December 1960:
"They took the drug one evening at Leary's house and had a profound experience, during which Ginsburg prophetically realized that it was a time to start "a peace and love movement". He then ran naked around the house, attempted to get Kruschev and Kennedy on the telephone and announced to the operator that he was God."

That is not necessarily true.

My body I will give to pleasures,
to diversions that I’ve dreamed of,
to the most daring erotic desires,
to the lustful impulses of my blood, without
any fear at all, for whenever I will—
and I will have the will, strengthened
as I’ll be with contemplation and study—
at the crucial moments I’ll recover
my spirit as was before: ascetic.”

It depends on a lot of things.  If we're talking about helping the country as a whole, that's a stretch, unless he becomes a wealthy venture capitalist and decides to invest a ton in the country's economy in an ethically-sound way.  But on a smaller scale, he could join an NGO that operates in Liberia, and train in a useful field.  I don't have much love for most NGOs, their cultural condescension and their interference in regional politics; but a highly trained person who is teaching AIDs prevention and use of contraception, or helping reintegrate victims of violence into society, can indeed make a positive impact on people's lives.

That said, one doesn't need to go to West Africa to do those things--and even if one does adopt a volunteer spirit and a career in humanitarian work, that whole industry is so fraught with ideological and organizational problems that there is no guarantee of making a positive impact.  So maybe I agree with you, after all.  But I'd like to hear more about your perspective.

i don't think there really is much we can do to help African nations. their problems are too caught up in the global market which is basically a blind force and imo cannot be changed for either good or bad without scraping the whole thing.

this may work for you but it may also be a waste of time considering the complexity of their problems.

I watched this documentary  in its entirety after watching this clip and found it very interesting.

My thought on it, and Liberia in general off the research I've done?

It speaks volumes about black African people

--------------------

"The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants."

I think we should cut all the social parasites from their welfare checks. Then they will either find a means to support themselves or starve to death, either of wich is good for the economy and society.

I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: "We hold these truths to be self-evident: that all men are created equal."

"Islam in a man is worse then rabies in a dog"
