Any guesses on the strain considering the timeline? Either way, I am going for fruits on this one.

i dont know what your asking here.

its the species is p. mexicana.

every strain is individual.

2 compadible spores germinate and combine to make a strain.

I was using the term lightly as in "strain A"

I understand and I am well aware that A/B/Jalisco are variants of P. mexicana and not strains and what exactly strains are. It surprises me that you didn't understand the question.

Different variants or "strains" of mexicana produce sclerotia in different time periods in different amount. My question was if anyone with enough experience could take a good guess on what variant this was by the information given.

i think it would be rather hard to figure out to any degree of certanty what sub-veriety of p.mexicana you have macroscopically even with a timeline.

:smile: id just be happy to see stones forming if i were you :laugh:

Not entirely but thanks.  I have done quite a bit of reading on the topic and that does go over some of the differences. I was hoping to catch someone who has an eye for the Species.

:smile: im just saying without some serious analisis you'd be hard pressed to identify what sub-veriety you have growing there,

maybe fruiting it would help determine something, but im really not the best at Taxonomy so im not too sure if it would really help or not.

enjoy what you have there, ive been trying to germinate alt7 for a while on agar with no luck. i think i got a bunk print

Are the possible strains one of A/B/Jalisco?

Family mexicanae has more variants as im sure you know.
My only experince with mexicanae is Psilocybe galindoi v. Georgia ATL#7 and my jars colonized much faster but it was ryegrain.




My jars are not even 3 weeks in theese pictures, and i have read WBS colonizes faster than rye (wrong?) so i dont think you have ATL#7 in your jars.

Can it be P.Semperviva?
Allthough I have a couple of P.Semperviva jars also and they did colonize much faster but they are said to be slow and strong.'


As you see, theese are 11 days today.

Maybee it very depending on temps, what temp you colonize at?

I thought Psilocybe Mexicana falls under the Family Strophariaceae and that Psilocybe galindoi (ATL7) is a completely seperate species under the same family.

Your jars are moving very quickly.  My temps are around 20-25°C

Definitely not P. semperviva,
because that particular species does not form sclerotia.
It is impossible to identify the variety you're cultivating
just by looking at macroscopic features and appearance
of mycelium and sclerotia.

As a note my jars colonize at 23-26 degrees C.

Not so many to choose from that produces sclerotia.

Why not get a first harvest of stones and then fruit.
When you see shrooms you probably can decide what it is.
If not, microscope is the best way, hope jimmyjame1 can help you with this.
