Hey AnubisRonin there are several of us that are experimenting with getting p. mexicana to fruit indoors. So far no one has done this. p. mexicana prefers rye grass seed or rye grain...but will work with rice. The problem is fruiting it.By the way, as far as I know the real p. mexicana is only available in culture form because of the fruiting problem. You mentioned you had a print...can you share where you got it from? Too bad you don't work with agar...then your print would last a long time. ------------------ Need a Cultivation Tek, Growing Parameter or are you interested in Spirituality? Sorry to mislead...I dont have a print but I found that BIO sells the culture for 100 bucks.. I wish I could grow it so I was asking questions before I atempted to pay that much and then I screw up... I think an experienced mushroom grower should get the culture and get some prints made...

i am really interested in growing this species as well.. In mushroom cultivator, paul stamets makes it seem like its just as easy as P. cubensis (weeell, maybe not that easy, but he doesn't make it sound hard:P) he's got a picture of like 100 P. mexicanas fruiting in a little porcelein bowl! the picture is of them fruiting on rye cased with a standard peat casing. hhow is it that all of the current experimanters are having bad luck?????? doesn't make sense to me ~pin------------------ "We are not afraid to follow truth wherever it may lead, nor to tolerate any error so long as reason is left free to combat it."

ShroomMage: Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that most of the Ps. Mexicana cultures in circulation have originated from Elixer in Germany. I'm pretty sure that's where Bio's culture came from, and Workman and Ryche and others probably got their cultures either from Bio or directly from Elixer. And even if this theory is incorrect, I wouldn't doubt it if most of these cultures originated from the same place, due to the relative rarity of the species, and I think it's very likely that this particular strain in circulation is senescent due to excessive clonings and poor handling. I'm sure that if you were working with a culture that you started from a spore print, and not one that was started from a spore print 1000+ transfers and clonings ago, you would find it much easier to fruit. I've never actually worked with Ps Mexicana, though, (but I'd really like to start!) so who knows... Still, I think I'd nearly give my left testicle for a healthy, fruitable Mexicana culture!------------------ "It's all in the mind, you know." -George Harrison

Hey Placebo...you are right, we all got our culture pretty much from the same place directly or indirectly And your coming to the same conclusion that we are. Worst case we will have to take a little road trip to a special place in Mexico. I'm sure you have probably looked at my new grow chamber "Mage's Myco Chamber". It was specifically built to work with p. mexicana...we shall see. ------------------ Need a Cultivation Tek, Growing Parameter or are you interested in Spirituality? $100 for a culture. Bio hasn't even fruited it, nor has Workman or Ryche or others. I'm surprised poeple would still pay him $100 for these cultures. Bet if you asked Ryche or Workman they would make you one for much less. good luck to you guys, hope somebody fruits it soon.

Did you say stamets sells pure strains??? are you talking about P. Mexicana??? I thought Stamets didnt want to deal with the commercial distribution of Psilocyban containing species!!?? If this is true.. I would dish out 60 beans for a spore print if I had a reliable fruiting method... Anybody ever bought spores from Stamets???

Hey BIO, I understood what you meant. And your prices are a very good deal. And from all the reports I have heard, you stand by your product By the way drop me an email soon regarding that project we spoke of.
