A few questions. Please help.

Whats up shroomery?

My friend batman Has this single cambodian cake. For a while he had it sitting directly on damp perlite. Well it colonized the perlite about a half innch down and oout from the cake.

Is this ok? he has had cakes on damp perlite before and it never did that.

It pinned but it only has three pins after it pinned two days ago.These pins look fat. but there is only a few of them.

Do you think there will be more pins? Does it need more air exchange or more light?

Cakes don't need much light to start pinning. Air exchange is always good, but you really haven't given us a clue on the setup, just a scenario. Have you lifted the cake to see if the pins are forming under the perlite?

That is batmans setup. He sprays the sides and top down and uses that bubbler. He still hasnt drilled holes for co2 to exit through.Just checked for pins. None on the bottom of the cake on perlite. Now there are four pins growing where the cake and the perlite are connected.

My pet rat had a cake directly on perlite that started to colonize the perlite. He took the cake off, and a while later the colonized perlite pinned! This random mushroom grew straight from the mycellium covered perlite. He ate the thing, though, and he seems to have turned out fine. I wouldn't worry about batman's situation, if I were you.

I did some looking around and in some threads people are saying the cambodian strain take a little longer for pins to start. Where is the CO2 going? Did you make the syringe that you used for the cake or did you buy it online?

His plan was too spawn horse poo with the cakes but he has no ride to go get horse poo.

Does anyone know if plant places that grow plants would have hose manure for sale? I ask because I have one thats down the street. Should i try?

Usually they don't have horse poo, but they do have worm castings.

he got the syringe from a friend in town. Would worm casting have potent mushrooms. Are the teks considered "bulk". As far as co2 he fans three times a day.

Its Cambodian.

Will the plant place have straw too. The worm dung and straw tek looks nice but he would have to use pf cakes. Thats what batman has ready to go. 5 GT and 5 cambo halfpints.

You get worm castings from plant store or even Wal-Mart and the straw you get at a feed store for like 4 dollars a bale.

Will the fruits from casting and straw be as potent or near as potent as those grown off horse manure. If it comes up what do i tell the feed store why im buying straw?
