Magnesium citrate, you could also get pure epsom salt and take a very hot bath to absorb it in your skin or put it into water and drink it. Diabetes has been linked to low magnesium levels.

Prickly pear cactus

Ginseng

Fenugreek seeds

Garlic

and definately ginkgo biloba

9-10 years ago, if i were to have my fasting blood glucose level tested it was always around 100mg/dl... then i became ill and and slowly over a seven year period i began gaining what would eventually reach 65 pounds of added weight... during this time i had my lithium levels checked every six months and during that time my resting glucose level slowly climbed to a high of 152mg/dl... while this was all happening my family doctor placed me on metformin, whether it slowed it down the rate of increase, i'm not sure but it sure as hell didn't lower it... about 10 months ago i became motivated and went vegan, started to exercise everyday and began to use supplements... within 5 months i lost the entire 65 pounds and then some and when my lithium test was done my resting blood glucose level was back down to 100mg/dl... i was already doing my own net research at that point and discovered that alot of medications, especially psychiatric meds cause a form of insulin resistance or pre-diabetes and left untreated i would have eventually developed diabetes... EVERYONE should read the PDR information on ANY medication they are placed on... most psychiatric meds state weight gain as a primary side effect, what they're not telling you is that the weight gain is directly caused by insulin resistance of the cell... the medications cause cellular dysfunction, that can lead to developing diabetes...

you didn't say what type of diabetes you have... if you were diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, there's nothing that can be done other then insulin therapy, sorry about that... the beta cells of the pancreas have died and they can't be regenerated, although some are doing stem cell research... if you have type 2 diabetes you can easily reverse it but it requires commitment...

you already have an idea what i did, i can't imagine a type 2 lifestyle plan being much different... i just did a google search real quick and found literally dozens of websites with instructions on how to do this... type in "can you reverse diabetes"... i found one that offered a 30 day money back guarantee that their plan can reverse diabetes in 25 days and the author claims all the information is based on all the work done by UCLA researchers... it's available in PDF and soft cover format... what do you have to lose? it is guaranteed...

Depending upon the type of diabetes, there may be nothing you can do to 'fight it naturally', but for the most common form, a proper diet and exercise.

check out the paleo diet.
high fat consumption (high quality animal fats, lots of omega 3's, medium chain fatty acids, high natural saturated fat)

low carb consumption (cut ALL grains, processed sugar, and limit to seasonal/local fruit)

get your body burning fat for fuel instead of sugar.
start feeling much more energetic within a couple of weeks and watch the blood sugar stabilize effortlessly.

i can't find the exact article where i read how to solve diabetes but i remember it involved 3 daily doses of turmeric i believe.. it will make your skin look really nice too.. it's also a great pain reliever. enjoy!

Sure, get off the insulin and eat raw fruits and nuts. That'll turn out well. :rolleyes:

OP: Do not quit taking your insulin, and lose weight. Sometimes, you can lessen the severity of your disease by doing this.

Do you have type 1 or type 2? If you are type 1, well, you're kinda SOL as not much is gonna help.

Type 2 however.... eating very well and getting lots of exercise in can reduce the symptoms by a lot, there are even some cases of people not having any symptoms with a good diet and exercise. But Type 2 is a lot different than type 1.

actually i tried to look into what owls posted but his link was dead so i did research on tumeric and diabetes and found that there's alot of merit in it... there's alot more to ayurvedic medicine then what meets the eye... people are to pumped up on taking pills... did you see my thread called Death by Medicine: How Our Hospitals and Physicians Really Operate? very intense 7 minute video... anyway, many ayurvedic protocols are used by allopathic MD's today... and as far as diabetes not being able to be cured type 1 can't be cured, it's where the beta cells in the pancreas die, that form is incurable and requires insulin... type 2, which is the most prevalent by far is easily completely reversible with a solid diet and exercise... even seuss said so in his post... check it out, scroll up...

both you and Uzziel have alot to learn... it's not a genetic disease in the sense that you have to develop it... you may be genetically predisposed to developing it but it's a poor lifestyle that brings it on... don't believe me? do some research... because based on your posts, i don't have to prove anything to either one of you...

While it is true that Type2 Diabetes can be attributed to an unhealthy lifestyle, I don't think Allopathic "medicine" or any other new-age snake oil remedies can cure anything.

snake oil? ayurveda has been around for thousdands of years dude. insulin is the new age cure. actually i don't think insulin even deserves the title of being a "cure"

I never said it was a cure, but it does prevent one from going into a coma and possibly dying, a situation which would also occur if he followed your advice.

Oh yes, about Ayurvedic "medicine". It has saved so many lives in India. Gosh, those folks must live into their 30's and 40's!
