I dont skate but I managed to do a ollie within 15 seconds of hopping on one after I saw someone land a decent one.

Op, ollies are the gateway step to ALL tricks. If you learn an ollie your on your way to pulling kickflips, pop shove-its and other simple tricks

i think i was kindergarten when i first learned to ollie but i really never picked up skateboarding i would start and stop all the time

i used to be pretty decent at skating


ollied an 8-set


tre flipped various 4-sets multiple times


i used to skate all the damn time in like 8th grade

Thanks everyone!

When I was a kid me and a couple neighborhood friends skated all the time but none of us could ollie and we didn't have access to any videos or anything beyond a Thrasher magazine here and there.

Now I'm in my 30s and my wife bought me a skateboard after I wouldn't shut up about it.  It has become my goal to learn how to do a damn ollie.  I'm finally getting my balance and am comfortable just rolling around.  It's so unbelievably fun to skate around the streets here and dork out at the pretend skatepark (covered school entrance with lots of ramps and curb cuts.  It's sorta ridiculous how much fun it is to me to just ride down a little slope.  I feel like a kid!

I can't decide if I should try to ollie stationary or while rolling.  Somehow in my head it makes more sense to do it while rolling; easier to maintain balance.

Took me a couple of weeks to learn ollies. Well, straight ollies... I would always turn 90 degrees. After that shuvits and 180's were easy but kickflips took me a while.

I still skate now although I dont go for big stunts anymore.

Practise stood still for a while untill you feel abit more confident and comfortable, then try rolling as soon as.

I know alot of friends that just did tricks stood still and never bothered to even try them rolling.. Always end up losing and trick easy that way.

First ollie was maybe 11 years ago, and I found out yesterday I can ollie on a long board too! :tongue2:
