My problem with the odds and statistics is that you are still increasing you chance of dieing by getting on a plane as opposed to traveling on a boat.  At least I can escape if something goes wrong on a boat, on a plane there is no escape.  Theres no parachute.  Its just a load of people in a thin bit of metal and plastic hurtling towards the ground.

Precisely, now days i only travel by trains and boats, only in very rare cases i will fly

You're increasing your chances of dying by getting in a car, too.  You're increasing your chances of dying by going for a swim in the ocean.  Planes are way faster than boats and trains and there is an extremely low probability of dying in one.  Logic for the win.

My body I will give to pleasures,

any fear at all, for whenever I will—

at the crucial moments I’ll recover
my spirit as was before: ascetic.”

In a car there is a element of control

You're not always in control of whether you get in a serious car accident, not by a long shot.  And anyway, you're still waaaaaaaay more likely to die in a car crash than a plane crash.  As in, orders of magnitude more likely.  It's fine to not take planes, but don't justify it by saying it's unsafe.  It's extremely safe.  Your fear is irrational.

You can pretend your in control in a car, I thought i was untill I wrote off  my tbird, guy pulled out infront of me at the worst possible moment, thankfully nobody got seriously hurt. But Ill tell you It was not fun at all, got my bell rung pretty good, and I have a new respect for how vulnerable we can really be.

people who are so afraid of flying that they won't even get on a plane...seriously?

I don't particularly like flying, but it's so convenient...there's no way around it. Sorry...I want to go places. I'm not going to drive to New York from Seattle...

Flying is the safest mode of transportation by a long shot. Honestly think about how dangerous cars are. It takes a LOT to bring down a plane. All it takes is one stupid bitch getting a text message and t-boning you and you're dead

ill fly

on topic: one time I was in mexico waiting to fly back into the states and someone on the plane got sick. they had to empty out every single bag from the plane and get her off. It took probably 2 hours of sitting in the 100+ degree heat in a fucking airplane before we finally got in the air (7 hour flight).

Ive had some pretty bad turbulence but turbulence always feels way worse than it actually is
