Morning Glories on Campus/passaflora incarnata
    #15107737 -

Hoping to have better luck with this variety than I did with the suspected Sweet potato I found growing wild.

Ott's? Active?
I can come back anytime for seeds so I'm pretty excited...beautiful either way.

been finding some awesome passaflora. one fruit so far has dropped, I managed to salvage a few seeds, but they were white. whaaat?

Ipomoea purpurea methinks.

Also, if your Passiflora is just flowering, give it a couple months before you start picking fruit for seed.

I kinda find it funny 'cause they're fruiting completely here. You mind if I ask your general location?

i dont know about the ipomoea but i am curious about that passiflora. Do you have pictures of the leaves? That red stem makes me wonder if it is incarnata.

I've already id'd it as an incarnata, and verified in another thread. They are growing wild, the one fruit I found with any seeds in it had fallen naturally,  and various insects were varying bits of it off, so I just grabbed a few seeds from that. Ill wait till they drop, or just before, before I gather for any reason. I learned my patience in that respect from growing other things.

I tried to take cuttings a few weeks ago, they never rooted. it was a combination of things, mostly life situation (moving, kid, school, space etc) so ill wait till next year, or for seeds.

It might have aborted the fruit and dropped it because insects were eating it alive.

I just made a cutting from this unknown passiflora

They seems to like to root in clean water, i cut from a hole stem with 3-5 nodes, 6 leaves, took about 3 weeks in water and i just put it in some soil.

Anyone know what kind of passiflora it is?

Excellent insight.

I'm sorry milkman, I'm really only familiar with incarnata, because its local to me. I'm trying to learn all the important entho / entheo's local to me before i learn too much more about what's not. absolutely gorgeous though! I wish the ones I took rooted. now that I am in my new place though, I've improved my grow room, so I may give it another go. I have mineral fibre plugs this time too, maybe that'll help. hope its not too late in season.

Yea the only one that took for me, i dont think i used rooting hormone and i cut like 1 inch below a node, the roots came right out of the stem below the node.
Apparently this is a "Lady Margaret" passiflora its a cross from an incarnata and a red one i forgot the name

MY seeds from an incarnata in Georgia also sprouted. So hopefully i will have three strains(Margaret, Florida incarnata and one from G.a) Better chances to get fruit right? How about spacing how much room should i give them between them when i plant them in the ground?

Also once the cutting showed a very small root, i put it into soil, not 3 days after did it have a massive section of roots. It actually rooted through the coir planter(which looked like a fungus not a root)

From whxt I've read, they have a realativly small root size compared to the size of the plant. in the wild, I've seen them doing excellently inches or about a foot away, bearing fruit and flowers. in a pot? I planned on using a three gallon once I go back out for cuttings or pick some seed from fruit.

Someone with more experience with passaflora correct me if I'm wrong...

About an inch from the node? Do you mean nodes on the woody, main stem, or off shooting branches?

i made my cut from the end growth of a very greeny thin shoot, hollow on the inside. Not woody. I know they usually are harder this way, but im sure the people would not have liked me to cut half their vine down.

Then i cut this cutting into like 2-3 more the one that had the end part withonly one cut(rather then 2) is the winner shes a-growin!
