Protests against government and the financial system
    #15092472 -

Small protests going on all over the world right now but especially in New York against the corruption of much of politics and financial institutions.
Anyone participate in protesting the government before and do you think it's more effective with non-violence or with violence exchanged?  (This is a non-violent protest).

adbusters.org is streaming it live in New York.

Non-violence should be the only choice. The police and crowd control didn't cause the situation being protested, they have family and loved ones to go home to at the end of their day too.

We supposedly live in the civilized world.

Adblock Adbusters.

You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity by legislating the wealthy out of prosperity. What one person receives without working for another person must work for without receiving. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for that my dear friend is the beginning of the end of any nation. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it. ~ Adrian Rogers

We just never leave the computer.  Not until it's time for the revolution. :satansmoking:

We'll let you know when we are ready to become your leaders and form our new govt. In the mean time gather some bricks.

It bothers me when people spout off about things they know nothing about.  The magazine has no ads nor does the website besides for their recycled shoes and magazine subscription.  What they are live feeding through is not part of adbusters.

And I agree with the poster not part of the hierarchy of the shroomery with your view on non-violence.

I used to protest, but it was a waste of my time.

I did it back in the early 70s and it did have an effect on ending the war in Nam I believe.  But mostly it was a chance to give the finger to  being in school during the marches and to partying at the free concerts surrounding the marches.  Most likely however it's a reason I wasn't drafted.  Something I've never thought of until just now.

You're right about exactly my age, aren't you?  The draft was over.  I do remember my lottery number, though.  It was 123.

The draft was not over when I was of age but they only drew to the number 50 or so due to the war winding down. My number was 328 and I was titled 1H which meant unlikely draft.

Indeed.  I would have never gone but I was really unprepared emotionally for Canada and leaving the known for the unknown.

I wasn't around then, but I completly understand what you are saying.  If I had been drafted I would not be able to go to that "unknown".  Sorry, didn't mean to drag thread off topic.
