Hi, I want to use a dehydrator to dry my shrooms I can't find any dessicant or anything, but 20 dollar dehydrators on sale at wal mart
only problem is there is no options for no heat, the lowest setting is 95 degrees fahrenheit, will this reduce my potency alot a little, or just shouldn't try it?
ty in advance

Have heard the suggestion of disconnecting the heating element. Sounds like its a pretty low heat to me,but I'm no expert. If you wanted to do dessicant, theres a ton of alternatives listed in the FAQ. Epsom salt is really cheap, and you can get it at the pharmacy at WallyWorld.

afoaf is going to use a dehydrator too, ive read about just deactivating the heating circuit inside by blocking the power to it with a piece of electical tape.

Most inexpensive deydrators with heat adjustment are very inaccurate.
Test it with a thermometer. If the low setting is true 95F, it is a go. IMHO, If it is over 100F, it is a no go & will toast the puppies.
Any small SQF atatched to a box makes a great dryer. The larger volume of air speeds the job, then when they are leather like, an hour (or so) in a very low heat (80 to 90F) dehydrator will get them CRACKER DRY.
After they are CRACKER DRY, vaccum seal in an autoclave bag for long term storage.

SWIM has been using the same dehydrator (the NESCO American Harvest) with the 95 degree heat setting for a few months, and has had NO noticable loss in potency. He LOVES it, it's so easy. Hope that helps!
