It's not A. campestris, and it doesn't really look like A. xanthodermus either. Try cutting it in half vertically and scraping the inside to bruise the tissue, then let us know what the bruising reaction is. It may take several minutes to change color. Also, let us know what it smells like.

i am not a trusted identifyer so i am glad toxic man said the same thing.

my reasoning was the cap shape is very marshmellowy, the cap margin isnt real appendiculate, the base is blunt and not really tapered and it doesnt look bright white. i might have had a lucky guess too.

psylosymonreturns is correct in the features he names, and I would also add the appearance of the ring on the stem. Bruising can be more difficult to see than the books generally indicate. In the herbarium we usually use a 10% solution of potassium hydroxide in water to verify the bruising color.

Agaricus is a large genus, and they are difficult to identify. How many species does your book list? There are several hundred species of Agaricus. The books will concentrate on the most common few species. It's not at all difficult to find mushrooms not in a book.

Agaricus are difficult enough to ID that I usually don't try for species on any of them that aren't one of the common, obvious ones.
