DJ Shadow appreciation thread!

Just saw him live in Tampa just a few hours ago, and it being his first time in florida and my first time seeing him, it was nonetheless :levitate:amazing :yinyang2:


a fan there told me of this live vid i never checked out. this video totally blows away his tampa set, but at the Tampa set he had the globe!

he did one with blackalicous and someone else in gainsville in 98, but for someone reason he didnt count it, even after acknowledging it.

'endtroducing' was one of those albums that changed the way i looked at music forever. since running out and buying it after reading a review of it urb in 90-something (96? 97?), i've worn out several copies of it, both purchased and burned. all of his other work pales in comparison to this album imo.

he's awesome live though. i caught his tour for 'private press' and it was amazing with the choreographed visuals that went along with his turntablism. they had cameras set up over the decks, and occasionally an image of what he was really doing would be superimposed over what was happening on the screen. dude's a mad man. really cool and humble too. he came out before the show started and explained to the audience exactly what he would be doing.

i had some cool dj sets of him just dj'ing, like playing records for fun, with another guy on a bbc (i think) show from several years back. but alas they are gone with the rest of my collection, which was lost during an international move in 09.

Yeah I dig his stuff. In fact I love most of this '' abstract hip hop '' scene a la Ninja Tunes and such. Good sounds :thumbup: Perfect for rainy days spent stoned. :grin:

No DJ Shadow thread can be complete w/o Midnight in a Perfect World. Like a poster said above me - this was one of those songs that totally changed how I looked at music. I first heard this when I was about 14...it's stuck with me forever. Fucking epic as shit.

I haven't listened to him for years. Stem, Long Stem is still by far one of the sickest tracks I have ever heard.

Shadow is one of my all time favorite DJ's. He's the fucking man.
I was supposed to go to Identity Festival in Tampa and see him but missed it. One of my homeys was there though and said it was fucking awesome.
