how the fuck r ppl financially independent these days?

I don't get it.  Unless ur d ling with drugs I don't see how people 18-22 are getting good jobs ?  :crazy:  maybe a lot of these ppl r just working random ass store jobs  ether way I know I haven't had fucking job luck for shit Haha maybe I need to check out some farms instead of Craigslist or something.

If you write your applications like you wrote this post, I can see why you had no luck finding a job :wink:

But seriously: yeah, it's pretty bad in some places. I think unemployment in Spain in the age of 18-22 is now somewhere around 50% or so.

If you want to know how to do it, you have to look for the jobs people don't want. My friend who is 21 just got a job telling cars where to park on a ferry and is making 13 an hour. No one wants to stand there and be going  back and foruth all day. another jobs would be garbage man around 15 an hour. More options you ever hear of the poopkings they pick up dog crap at people's houses for huge money. Or you could go to college I guess

People in that age range aren't getting jobs.  And if they are getting jobs, they're not getting good ones. 



I graduated undergrad in fall 2008, a few months after Lehman collapsed and right in teh beginning of our shitstorm recession.  Clearly, the uncertainty was rife and there were NO jobs to be had.  What did I do?  Went back to school.  Started getting my MA in Econ.  Finished that coursework, uhoh, still not many jobs.... MBA, here I come.

Now, as a result of my graduate programs (MA & MBA) I was able to acquire a good job with a good company at a good salary.  Clearly it was not easy, it took me 3 years, but I got a job.  Now I just have to pray the job continues to exist.




Moral:  Persevere.  Work suboptimal jobs in the mean time.  YOU WILL HAVE TO WORK HARD.  Americans are no longer "guarenteed" a job because they went to college, as we were in past decades.  The developoing world has our low-skilled jobs, and our entire youth are competing for the high-skilled college-degree jobs.  Either way, its going to be TOUGH. 

Don't get stuck in a service industry rut.  Sure, use the service industry to facilitate your short-term spending, but do your best to move forward.  It will take EFFORT.  And lots of it.  But it can be done.

Go learn a trade. Learn autos or how to be a nurse or phlebotomist or something.

Financially stable in a few years, with a decent job.

Even in a recession, people have cars, people get sick.
