monotub in a greenhouse
    #14866693 -

Hey I was curious if anyone had tried placing their monotubs in a greenhouse.  I am speaking of a large outdoor greenhouse to grow plants not the type used for trays.  The reason I ask is because the greenhouse has a higher humidity than the surrounding areas due to misters in the roof and I was hoping that if I place my monos in this location I could drill an extra hole or possibly even some shotgun style holes in them without drying out.  The reason I want these holes is added FAE.  Any suggestions?

I always use green houses for my mono tubs outside and in. Not sure what type your working with but I just cut slits through with a knife and make sure to keep the humidity up. I've hand sprayed and added a humidifier. Don't work about to much fresh air as long as you can keep the humidity up.

you dont need the air outside the tub to be humid. not necessary. you just want the tub to be humid so the mushrooms will grow.

Thanks I'm worried about the FAE for pans.... the greenhouse is 6'x10' made of shitty plastic with misters in the roof.

Ajax, thanks for your input but I would like to up outside humidity so I can increase FAE without drying the tubs.

thats what misters are for..

i may be mistaken, but i think i understand what youre talking about doing. and imo youre making it more difficult than it needs to be.

That should work well just make sure they don't puddle up. Find the right timing for mist, example 5 min an hour or whatever you see suitable to keep the humidity up with over watering. I've used large tubs like that but more often just use 12 qt dish pans from dollar tree.

I guess in a blunt way my question is... if I put my tub in a humid room can I get away with drilling some extra holes or maybe even a few shotgun style holes

Also, does placing my tubs outside increase my risk for contams?

Yes, I wouldn't cover them and personally would not use deep bins. If your talking about covering them ajaxx is right, there's no need to even put them in a green house.

More fresh air will reduce the chance of contams in my opinion. I don't think I have ever had a contamination outdoors.

Thanks, sublicious and yes I am talking about covering them.  In essence I am just trying to figure out where to put my tubs.  The greenhouse is well hidden and has good humidity so I thought u would start there unless it could cause problems

If you're growing Pans and you have a greenhouse, a monotub is not necessary. Just use trays and fruit them in the greenhouse.

Got you, as long as the air in the green house is circulating, you should be fine. Good luck!
