% Gentamycin in Spore Syringe?

I didn't have a lot of time to hunt azures last year so am low on prints.

My plan is to make a few syringes w/ gentamycin added. I would like to know if anyone has any suggestions as to the quantity I should add.

These syringes will be available when completed. I will post in the marketplace when they are ready.

what is your gent solution composed of 40mg/ml?

I believe so. I can do conversions. I am interested in the optimal concentration of gm in spore solution.

for what it is worth--working conc. of antibiotics I know about.

Kanamycin, tetracycline, streptomycin should be 50 ug per mL, or 100 mg per liter.
Ampicillin and carbenicillin are 60 ug/mL, or 120 mg per liter.
Tetracycline needs to be in ethanol to dissolve, but won't precipitate out when added to water solutions.
Sorry, I can't help with gent, it's not even in my book. But kanamycin is my personal fave!

The numbers quoted previously are for use in agar media, or liquid media.

Thanks, Joshua. It's nice to be appreciated even when I spouted what I knew and not the answer to your question!
The book is "Molecular Cloning, A Laboratory Manual" second edition, Sambrook, Fritsch, and Maniatis authors. This one is copyrighted in 1989, there are newer editions out there. A table of antibiotics is on page six of the appendix.
One last thing--none of the antibiotics I know of are autoclavable except gentamycin. They will all filter-sterilize, tho.

I would use other antibiotics, but I have an excess of gs. If anyone would like to trade gs for one of the others, pm me.

isn't it 100:1? In agar I use 100mg for every 1,000 ml of water.

Every ml is a gram.

100mg for 1,000g of water...

just my calcs, i could be off.

I recommend 1/20 gm gentamycin sulfate per liter of water.

Can anyone tell me if neomycin survives autoclaving? I have quite a few tabs of it that I have been using, but I don't know if it is technique or the antibiotic that have been effective. Also my memory fails me, what are the quick visual identification keys for bacterial contams and yeast contams on agar?
