Interesting find in SW PA, Maybe young Amanita?

Habitat:
Found this in Southwest PA, in the deep deep woods near a creek, almost under a tree.

Gills:
White, almost attached.

Stem:
thick, solid, watery

Cap:
Ruby red, inky, no spots yet?

Spore print color:
None yet but i will get one if needed

Bruising:
none

Looks like Russula to me.

Do russulas have an inky cap?  Thats what made me think it was an Amanita..

Neither Amanita nor Russula have inky caps. Inky caps have inky caps.

If there is latex leaking from your mushroom, it could be a Lactarius species.

You look about my age and live in SW PA, five bucks says I know you irl.

Anyways, can't really tell from the pictures, they look washed out because of the light. Regardless it's either Russula emetica or Russula mariae. I find and stomp on both of those on a daily basis, they grow like weeds near water. If you do any amount of mushroom hunting in this area, you'll learn to hate those things. They last a long time and smell like asshole when they finally do die, which draws in the gnats and mosquitoes that'll be constantly biting you.
