I want to use it to tape jars after innoculation.
I heard it helps protect from contams and allows a small amount of air exchange. Can someone tell me would using this be any more beneficial than using just normal tape? Thx

Ahh,so you want to put it over the holes in the lids?? I think you'd be more happy with a filter disc (tyvek filter)

ive heard that micropore tape is perfect for air exhange...that said, ive had great success with bandaids...

Tyvek filters.. where can they be bought?
I believe I remember reading that some sort of envelopes have tyvek inside that you could cut a circle out to make a disc. btw im not interested in buying them through internet or mail order.

Tyvek can be found at alot of construction site....they use it for house wrap...smooth side down will help to retain moisture, it can be reused and steam sterilized to about 350 degrees.....you never need above 250deg...

if you cant get it there....post office has it with the priority mail envelopes, have them sent to you....the will begin to get suspicious if every one goes in and askes for a lot of them....also most home improvement stores in the paint department...coverall and the like....its the same stuff your matress tag and pillow tags are made of....

Wal mart , grocery stores in the med section , any pharmacy .
Works great for closing holes in lids , sealing petris .
Transpore is also a good one to use .
