substituting polyfill with micropore tape/ tyvek for monotub, which is better?

If I were to substitute polyfill with one of the 2 I mentioned, which would be better?
is it worth going out of my way to get polyfill?

Out of your way? Any craft store will have polyfill, it's nothing hard to find at all.

But is micropore tape not a viable substiture if one has scads of it lying about? Is it not porous enough to allow sufficient airflow?
