Quick question about micropore tape and tyvek

If I use micropore tape to cover the inoculation holes in my spawn jars, do I still need to use tyvek underneath my lids when sterilizing and when incubating them?

If you have tyvek under the lid, and poke a hole in it, you are defeating the purpose of having tyvek.

my friend has a layer of tyvek under his lids before he inoculates wbs..the hole is still tiny and it accomplishes its overall purpsoe.

Micropore tape, tyvek, and polyfil all do essentially the same thing. It's all a matter of preference. Personally, I think you should just choose one that works well for you and don't worry about using multiple materials.

I did Tyvek under the lid when sanitizing, then after inoculating, another layer of tyvek on top of the lid.

I bought NexCare "absolute waterproof" tape. Is this what I wanted? I didn't see anything that actually said "micropore."
Thanks
Nevermind. I'm clearly an idiot. Let this be a lesson not to go to Wal-Mart stoned.

Look for gentle paper tape at walmart. That is the same thing as multipore tape.

I'll be damned. There was about 15 different types of that.

a tiny hole ,by your standards, is a 6 line superhighway for a microbe.

This is what you are looking for. You can't really tell in the picture, but the black lettering at the bottom actually says "micropore"
