Jeter's ball

All these assholes acting like that kid didn't get a hundred percent ripped off by Jeter / the Yankees.  He was robbed.  This doesn't make him noble or kind or generous.  It doesn't mean he did "the right thing".  It means he's a sucker and a pushover and an all around dumbass.

If it were I who caught that shit, I would sell it to the highest bidder and it could be some rich kook who wants to feed the thing to his dog for all I care. 

Kid's like "Mr. Jeter deserves it.  He's worked hard for fifteen years."  The guy plays a fucking game for a living.  That ain't work.  His worst day at the office is something that people will watch on television for Christ's sake.  Plus he has god knows how many millions of dollars in his bank account while this 23-year-old chump has a hundred grand in debt and a brain the size of a pea.

This doesn't mean the Yankees fucked up either.  Never give a sucker an even break.  If he's willing to give the thing away, go ahead and take it.  If you ask me they gave him too much considering his only demand in exchange for the ball was to meet Jeter.  Kid's gotta be kicking himself already.  I tell you what, if it were me, I'd like to meet Jeter too...as he was writing out my goddamn check.

He wasn't robbed and he isn't a kid.  He freely gave it up and is an adult.  What he chose to do with the ball is his business and his business alone.  Why do jerkoffs always think they have to tell other people what to do?

Having something of value and getting properly compensated doesn't make you a money grubber.

How do you know he wasn't properly compensated with Yankee good will?  That is for him and him alone to decide, money grubber.

Read this nice and slow now zappa:


Here's what happened.  A kid catches (stumbles upon) a valuable baseball while in attendance at a baseball game.  By recovering the ball it becomes his.  It was estimated before this happened that such a ball might be worth $250,000.  He then gives it away.  Is that his right?  Absolutely.  Does it make him a dum-dum.  Oh yes.

But according to you, because he did not want any money for something that he legally owned and was worth a good deal of money, this makes him not a money grubber.  You further imply that if he had sold the item which he legally owned he would be a money grubber.

Therefore anything that you own you must give away rather than sell lest by your own definition of what makes a money grubber, you yourself will be a money grubber.

I know one thing. Deep inside that guy already knows he made the worst mistake of his life and it's going to gnaw at him endlessly and get worse and worse as time goes on. Giving away 250 grand (to a multi-millionaire no less) doesn't sit right with any working class person.

No.  You just don't seem to understand the concept of choice and the concept that there can be valuations other than monetary.  I have done many things in my life that were not predicated on how much money I could make.  Everybody does (except maybe you).  What he does is none of your fucking business.  He made a choice.

He could have sold the ball for $250,000, paid off his $100,000 in debt and then paid $800 to meet all the Yankees at next year's homecoming...and still have $149,200 to, oh I don' know...buy a house maybe, or give it to charity if he's such a fuckin philanthropist.

Poor bastard has to pay taxes on all the stuff the yanks gave him too.

Estimates for all the memorabilia and suites to all games will cost him anywhere from $5 - $15 grand to the tax man.

Some of that is speculative but you do not know what his values are.  Maybe money isn't how he values things.  Unlike you.  Money grubber.
