i know. i couldnt believe it. Marc Ecko has earned my respect. anyone who would spend 3/4 of a million dollars to make a statement like this is awesome. the best thing is he isnt doing it because he believes it should be asterisked, but he wants to let the people decide.

i voted to asterisk it.

i thought sending it into space was a little ridiculous. because it should not be forgotten. this should be something that he never lives down. how pissed off do you think bond will be if that ball gets the asterisk?? i would love to see him the day it happens :lol:

This is definitely a big fuck you to the establishment by letting the people decide what is to be done with the ball. He's stirring the pot and it is very fucking cool. I was just reading that he did publicly state that he voted for the ball to be asterisked but that his vote does not hold any more weight than the next guy.

So by the end of the week we'll see what the public has decided on the matter. I'm surprised there is nothing about this on MLB.com yet considering it's all over the internet, including sportsillustrated.com. They're probably baffled about this whole situation.

The thing about Bonds, and I have followed him closely his whole career, is that he doesn't give a damn if they brand the ball, I can hear him now....

Oh yeah, but he knows that most of the population hate him. He knows we're jealous of him and his talent, money, looks, record. But we NEED him. And his stuff.:smirk:

No argument that it will chap him, but why let the poster-boy for all that was/is wrong with sports ever be given a chance to see it?? He doesn't care what we think, it's ALL about him.

Personally I envision Mark taking donations to launch the ball, stream the launch to the web, maybe rraffle off tickets to see who gets to push the botton.... ya' feel me here? Make it an event to launch the bastard. Maybe a big ol' picnic, beer festival before hand to celebrate. We could all wear T-Shirts and that say, "We love you barry" and send pictures to him.

He made a disgusting spectacle of us and the game. We should do the same in the name of sport. And great beer. :cheers:

I just wonder what Cooperstown would do if they got the ball with the asterisk on it...loyalty to the fans who voted and display it as is or loyalty to the player and not shame him by putting it on display with the asterisk

The hall of fame belongs to the fans, not the players. Brand it and then let the politicians squirm. Before they put it in. He should auction the rights to the branding too.
