Zoo Med Repti Fogger Terrarium HUMIDIFR RF-10
    #14698560 -

Hello all,

Well, I had another Vicks die on me.

I have decided that better-late-than-never, and am going
to make an Agar-type fogger+drum humidifier.

....but this is going to take a couple of weeks to gather
and assemble.  I have some critical grows that are dying
on me (two really cool Gymnopilus attempts that are starting
to fruit)

I have located the Zoo Med unit in the Subject, and think
that I will run to grab one.

I just want to poll the group to see how members like this
unit, and whether there were any recommendations regarding
it's deployment.

Any comments appreciated,

JD

it's pretty good. i would almost recommend an ultra sonic instead.  i have both and all i use is the ultra sonic on the top shelf.  a zoomed by itself might have a problem regulating the RH of a whole green house.  that is what you're trying to humidify, right?

Right.

I have been using a Vicks to drive FAE together with a
fogger in a bucket.  Without the Vicks to drive the FAE
the fogger is having little effect on the GH.

An ultra-sonic sounds useful too...hmmm...

I have found the sponge types to be essentially worthless.

I need something that I can drive to pick up tonight.

Please post good models of ultrasonic humidifiers too people!

I will search one up at a local Sears/Walmart/whatevericanthinkof.

(and thanks!)

OK, I just got home with this same unit.

It appears to do a great job at making fog.

The fog is kinda sitting there, and so I hooked my sponge-type
as a FAE blower, blowing in at the bottom.

This combo appears to be having the desired effect.

On thing: I would like to commit to cleaning this unit
and not using de-ionized water.  Is this doable?

Thank you for taking the time!

that's what i do. sucky thing is though, either clean it often (which becomes a hassle after a while) or get a white filmy dust on everything.  but hey.. you get big mushies.  and yeah, i blow around the fog with a fan that's on a cycle timer (but a lot of things would work, ex: ur rig).  oh it's gonna get kinda wet in there, so i'd put the U.S. on a cheap timer 15 minute interval timer. sorry i didn't mention that before.

Absolutely.  I think that I got a large step closer to
dialing my GH in when I got my cycle timer.

They are freakin' expensive (70-80 USD) but are worth the
cost....nothing else I have will do 5 minutes on then 20 minutes off.

Take care,

JD
