While your wondering...Consider the pH of the grounds. Aren't coffee grinds acidic? Are they not used in soils not favoring acid loving plants? Wouldn't you use them around your azaelas and gardenias? Conisdering they love an acidic medium. Do psilocybe mushrooms grow in very acidic conditions? 6.2-> Do they thrive? Maybe try adjusting with lime. That would be a nice experiment. Bust it. I'll let you take the credit.

mmmm....they'd taste really good too. You could flavor them with different roasts.See the tek in the grow/find section called "Soil method". It uses whole coffee beans.

coffee, caffine specifically is an acid mitself. I doubt it would work becasue when you sterlized it..the water would fall out of the grounds and basically make coffee in the bottom of your jar..trying to grow shrooms in that would not be a good idea IMO.

You buffer them with some lime. The beans will indeed hold the water. As for what they like to grow in, have you ever tested the ph of spent substrate? Also pine needles are very acidic as well and yet lots of people use them for outdoor patches.------------------ Be sure to check out www.3mshrooms.homestead.com for your spore needs
