what is the lowest temp mycelium can survive?

my neighbor is worried about an outdoor patch. the weather has been warm here, but the low for tonight is 39F. tomorrow: high of 72, low 45. sat: 71/48 sun: 73/53. can mycelium running through straw and dung survive this cold spell?

just get one of those oil heaters that have an auto temp control (about $30 at all those mart stores). i have no problems keeping my room at a comfy 86 deg.

It will be fine. As the temperature drops it will just grow more slowly.

I would imagine mycelium could go right to the verge of freezing , as long as not "frozen" , meaning water expanded past cell walls ability to keep from rupturing . Some species go into a state of dormancy when temps drop below 68*F , and will be fine and recover growing when temps return to happy range .
Yes it can and will handle this temp swing , but will be very slow at overall time to colonize said site . Toss extra layer of plain straw on top just to blanket it through the cold spell , if you think temps may drop below forcasted temps .

mycelium can be frozen and still remain viable for a culture....dont try it unless you want to risk loosing it....
