Reptile Appreciation Thread

No animal chills as hard as snakes and reptiles do, it's their sole occupation. Shroomerites with pet snakes or reptiles -- Post pictures of and/or discuss your scaly overlords.

My bearded dragon Silent Bob:






He's two years old and about a foot and half long with the tail. I walk him on a harness leash and freak the shit out of my neighbors and motorists, nearly caused a few crashes this month :lol:

Leopard geckos are awesome, it's hilarious how neurotic they are about their tanks -- A friend of mine changed the color of the carpet liner in his geckos cage and it stopped eating for a month. Have you ever seen the jumbo ones? They're....unnatural looking, but still cool as hell.
I dig that geckos, bearded dragons, and snakes like being held, I sometimes perch Bob on my shoulder like a parrot and not a single fuck is given.

Alright so three of those are by the same person, but then there are...more. Is this something that people draw? Guess I missed the boat on the whole dragons fucking cars craze somehow... go figure.

Yeah wtf. At first I was like ok, just some lizard porn. Then I realized they're ALL fucking cars. And then I LOLd.

I had an iguana as a kid, but it eventually died :sad: I'd like to get another reptile some day. Maybe a horned chameleon. They look badass.

Bearded dragons have a lot of personality for lizards, and if you raise them from hatchlings they dig people too -- mine actually likes to be pet (particularly on the face or the stomach) and will close his eyes or wriggle around as a result.

for sure man, probably my favorite reptile.
I had one as a baby, but it got sick. We were resorting to meds, and syringe feeding. It ended up dying before it got bigger than my pinky. :sad:
Second one i got as a baby, and raised it to be full grown. Damn it got big, he was the best thing ever. Can't wait till i can get another one.

I appreciate reptiles, like the Dickens.
Not that there is a reptile named Dickens, but it would be cool to have one.
I mean like, totally.

I found a baby Horned Lizard at the last gathering I attended,
I name him "Dickens" for posterity's sake.

I sometimes work at a Petco in the summer (although this year I've stayed around school) and I was sort of their de facto Reptile guy -- And I ended up caring for a lot of sick reptiles that customers had brought back. I would say 90% of the time people return their reptiles without ever obtaining a diagnosis from a Vet. There's some sort of disconnect people have with reptiles, a bearded dragon will live 8-10 years with proper care and yet people act like they're returning a goldfish or something. We had a bearded dragon hatchling brought back to us that was weak and clearly dying -- turned out to be a major calcium deficiency. Obviously hadn't been kept under a UV lamp and his eyes were crusted shut. Another employee and I put him in his own tank, gave him calcium supplement through a liquid syringe, and pried his mouth open once a day to feed him small crickets.

Often times bearded dragons will wriggle around when they are really comfortable:

Anyway the hatchling held on for about four days -- the last night he was alive I couldn't get him to eat so I put him on my shoulder as I did my walk of the store. He wriggled around a bit and settled with his head propped on my neck. When I brought him back to wellness he clung onto my shirt and resisted attempts to remove him; another endearing thing about bearded dragons is that they'll often try to stay on you when you're putting them away -- they love that body heat something fierce. I came in the next day and he'd already been removed from his tank dead in the night. I was so fucking sad. I'd had Bob for about 5 months at that point and proceeded to treat him like a damned king for a while (and he had it pretty good to begin with.)

i have a fat-tailed african gecko, named him Audio. he's got alternating brown and tan bands, with cool deep-ass green eyes.
i love touching him when i'm tripping, haha it's like holding a lil dinosaur
