The Confession thread.....

Yep this is the confession thread where you can "Confess" certain things about your musical taste that may or may not be 'Cool Ok I`ll start off with my confession... I confess that i used to listen to Alice Cooper I really did like Alice a bunch and i even went so far as to hide the albums i had from my friends for fear of being laughed at... I admit that i still want to buy certain Alice CD`s and still know all the lyrics to "Muscle of Love"

When no one is around I like to listen to classical music at obscene volumes and pretend I am conducting the orchestra. Igor Stravinsky is one of my idols!

I have the soundtrack to "A Mighty Wind" and I love it. My friends think I am weird when they hear me listening to it. I also enjoy the Kingston Trio.

I'm very serious. We listen to music everyday. I take an hour and we sit and listen to music. They like the Dead and act crazy when I put on Shpongle. I'm now exposing them to old jazz like Miles Davis and John Coltrane.

That's awesome Chincat. I want to do the same thing if I ever have kids. You sound like a good father. My musical confession: The first tape I ever bought was Vanilla Ice: To The Extreme. I was also into M.C. Hammer. I was in 5th grade though. I still like to listen to a little Guns N Roses from time to time.

Hold old are your kids china? I was always curious how music would influence the mind of a child at a young age for development later in life. Theres no way music like that could be negative in my opinion. Its just cool to think parents out there are actually doin it rather than keeping the cycle of how they're parents raised them and theirs them and theirs them going leading to stupid mental disorder shit.... unless of course the family "raising" ritual was successful in the past for the development of the mind.
Blah blah, but I'm really glad to hear that.

I grew up listening to Alice Cooper, Led Zepplin, Black Sabbath, ext, ext. It was cool at the time. To be honest I can't listen to it anymore. Mabye it was becuase I used to listen to that music constantly. I have heard it soo much it's not stimulating. But yeah back when I was younger and those bands were together I listend to it alot.
Once I found LSD and the Grateful Dead my musical tastes opened up. I love everything that isn't mainstream. Bluegrass, Jazz, Classical or some guy playing a flute in the rainforest. If I hav'nt heard it I want to.
I can't stand country music unless it's older stuff by Hank William(not jr), Jonny Cash, Willie Nelson ext. I hate rap/hip hop, but mabye i'm just to old to get it.

Now if you confessed to listening to warrent - cherry pie, or Skid row, 18 and life..
THATS something to confesss to.

omg...I totally know what you mean about Dragon Tales. That song is really catchy. I keep telling Shroomism it would be an awesome heavy metal song. "dragon tales, dragon tales, its almost time for dragon tales. Come along, take my hand, lets all go to dragon laaaaaaaaaaaaaaand" I thought I was the only one.

Why do you need to confess that?
I just melded my mind with Franz Liszt's Hungarian Rhapsody #2. It helps me impregnante my own music with passion.

Well I have more confessions than I thought I had seeing alot of good music mentioned here. Frank Sinatra, that guy can SING I'll tell you... you laugh at him you laugh at good music, period. The Cranberries, they are awesome, I love her voice and the way she sings. And 80's music RULES!!! I love 80's pop and all that, its the only pop that really gets you going. 80's pop makes me want to do coke and cruise in a cadillac. If that isnt confession I dont know what is, but I stand for it, proudly.
Anyway, here is my list of confessions:
- I had the Hanson Cd once, lol, my cousin got me into it, but it didnt take long before I blew it up with a firecracker, lol. - I still like the old Michael jackson (notice I said the OLD stuff lol) - when I bought one of my first cd's it was a tough choice between Nas - The Message and the first spice Girls cd, lol, I bought the Nas cd, and thats a hip hop classic right there, I'm happy for my wise little choice at that time, lol. - Elvis Priesly (but he gives EVERYONE the good chills when he sings, you cant deny that) - I still like hip hop (confession because there seems to be alot of people that dont get the music... there's alot of good hip hop though) - Beach boys - Justin Timberlake (I am ashamed for that though), I sing cry me a river often in the shower and stuff.
Thats it for now. What I sing, the way i sing when i sing to myself is alot worse than any of the mentioned stuff, lol, I totally get into singing soft pop songs sometimes... but people say i got the voice for it so why not, lol. i also freestyle-sing ben harper style lyrics and voice often, so soft boy band music and ben harper is my vocal style I guess you could say... with a twist of jim morisson.
And I'll confess another thing, Its been a long long time since I last listened to punk, and when i do its emo. Its all the dead, bob dylan and jimi hendrix, the doors etc. for me now.
Peace.

Oh god I hate that one!
I have another confession. I LOVE and ADOOOORE arabic prayer singing! I'm in pakistan now you know and I hear it on the speakers five times a day. sitting in a cab once my driver put on a casette with this praying/singing and I almost got swept away into tears at the sound of this singing and devotion towards god. Its truely fascinating... its even a bit psychedelic somehow... with the bending of the vibrato. Oh and GOD does that vibrato come straight from the soul!!!

alright, how's this:
i like Prince (though I am a dude) Rockapella has some groovy covers and on the Led Zep tribute album Encomium, my #1 award goes to.. uh oh.. Hootie and the Blowfish who covered Hey Hey What Can I Do
... and the worst song on the album goes to The Rollins Band doing Four Sticks. I am not ashamed of disliking them.

I must confess that I dig Prince and Michael Jackson (well, the dancey stuff anyway). It always sounds lame to people until you put it on loud and start grooving.
