9er Tek
    #1446794 -

When I first looked at it months and months ago, I dismissed most of what I saw as "excessive," meaning that I really didn't feel I needed to read it unless I started doing some serious mycological labwork.

However, I have revisited the tek and can say there is a HUGE amount of very good information that would have saved some time and money had I read through it. I'm posting this for the newbies here who are looking for some solid info to guide them.

Here's the link:

A FOAF tried the 9er Tek (well, at least the section on casing) and found the yield quite dissapointing. Too much depth and not enough surface area IHHO. It is worth noting that his observation was based on the 1st flush only, so maybe things will improve in later flushes, but he is not optimistic. In the future he plans on crumbling all of his casings and going for more surface area. His crumbled casings performed much better.

I completely agree with you. Crumbling and casing is better. I was extremely glad I read it though just because he points out that you can attach the base of your blender to a jar! That way, you can PC a jar of water with the blender blades over the mouth to do a blend and inoc with an existing culture. Good stuff!

Yes, the "blender tek" is quite useful!
