Reasons for a late period besides pregnancy

my gf is late. she's trying to lose weight so she hasn't been eating right recently and is under a lot of stress. she also started getting chills and shivers. any reasons why a period is three days later than usual?

You have 3 possible reasons in your post:

1) Not eating right
2) Stress
3) Maybe sick?

My ex-gf was like a week and a half late last semester.  We were both under a ridiculous amount of stress with school and I'm pretty sure that's what it was.  Being that she is pro life and would never get an abortion, I praise the gods every day that it eventually came.  :gethigh:

Is she really young? (Like under 18 and/or got her period late)
Extra skinny?
A serious athlete?
Otherwise unhealthy?
History of irregular periods or other gyn issues?

18, not real skinny but trying to eat less recently because worries about weight. a lot of stress. she has had regular periods for a few years now.

Stress
Illness
Changes in schedule (or housemates)
Changes in medication
Being overweight or underweight

You already answered your own question. Stress and diet. Made me skip periods completely. Sometimes drugs will do it too.

the test said she's not pregnant but she's gonna get a blood test.

Preg tests from the store usually won't be able to tell you accurately until she's a week or so late. It says somewhere in the directions how many days since your missed period it takes.


Also, she should just go to her gyno. It could be a med condition. However, i agree with everyone else. It's prob stress and diet.

The more she stresses out about being pregnant the more it will interfere with her normal menstruation.  It's a vicious cycle.

i can't believe it

i told her to do another proper test so there wouldn't be any doubt.
she gets together with her two friends and they all buy a test. they all think they might be preggo. so basically my girl is going to the doctor anyway for a blood test so she said they all switched the tests around together after taking it so no one knows which one is hers. basically one test was super positive, one was kinda positive (one line with the second barely visible) and the third negative. all the while she's laughing and one girls hysterical in the background. jeeeeeeesus christ :sad:
