Silently screaming
    #1396842 - 03/21/03 04:00 AM (13 years, 8 months ago)

Silently I scream,
Silently I scream,
There are no words to what I dream.
Quietly I speak,
Quietly I speak,
To ears that hear not the words of a freak.
Simply I live,
Simply I live,
Sharing  my brothers what I have to give.
Completly I love,
Completly I love,
The family of man that I am one of.
Soon I shall Die,
Soon I shall Die,
Will death open my eye?
Alone this to ponder,
Alone this to wonder,
Has this been my silent dream?
Silently,Silently, I scream..........................................

I am no poet but this descibes a feeling that is growing within me :confused: WR

I like that. I think it would sound great as a song.

Are you really going to die soon?

Pawn Hearts(all words by peter hamill 1971)

Man-erg

The killer lives inside me; yes, I can feel him move.
Sometimes he's lightly sleeping in the quiet of his room;
but then his eyes will rise and stare through mine,
he'll speak my words and slice my mind inside.
Yes, the killer lives.

The angels live inside me, I can feel them smile;
their presence strokes and soothes the tempest in my mind
and their love can heal the wounds that I have wrought.
They watch me as I go to fall;
well, I know I shall be caught
while the angels live.

How can I be free?
How can I get help?
Am I really me?
Am I someone else?

But stalking in my cloisters hang the acolytes of gloom
and Death's Head throws his cloak into the corner of my room
and I am doomed.
But laughing in my courtyard play the pranksters of my youth
and solemn, waiting Old Man in the gables of the roof:
he tells me truth.

And I, too, live inside me and very often don't know who I am;
I know I'm not a hero;well, I hope that I'm not damned.
I'm just a man, and killers, angels, all are these,
dictators, saviours, refugees in war and peace
as long as Man lives...

I'm just a man, and killers, angels, all are these:
dictators, saviours

A Plague of Lighthouse-keepers

(Eyewitness)

Still waiting for my saviour, storms tear me limb from limb;
my fingers feel like seaweed...I'm so far out I'm too far in.
I am a lonely man, my solitude is true,
my eyes have borne stark witness
and now my nights are numbered, too.

I've seen the smiles on dead hands,
the stars shine, but they're not for me.

I prophesy disaster and then I count the cost...
I shine but, shining, dying, I know that I am almost lost.
On the table lies blank paper and my tower is built on stone;
I only have blunt scissors, I only have the bluntest home.
I've been the witnessand the seal of death
lingers in the molten wax that is my head.

When you see the skeletons
of sailing-ship spars sinking low
You'll begin to wonder if the points of all the ancients myths
are solemnly directed straight at you...

No time now for contrition, the time for that's long past,
the walls are thin as tissue and if I talk I'll crack the glass.
So I only think on how it might have been,
locked in silent monologue, in silent scream.

I am much too tired to speak
and as the waves crash on the bleak
stones of the towerI start to freak
and find that I am overcome....

(S.H.M.)

"Unreal, unreal" ghost helmsmen scream and fall in through the sky,
not breaking through my seagull shrieks -no breaks until I die.
The spectres scratch on window-slits,
the hollowed faces and mindless grins
are only intent on destroying what they've lost.

I crawl the wall till steepness ends in the vertical fall;
my pain has sailed into the sea -no joking hopes at dawn.
White bone shine in the iron-jaw mask,
lost mastheads pierce the freezing dark
and parallel my isolated tower...
no paraffin for the flame,
no harbour left to gain.

i never thought i'd be able to relate to these ever again, it's been almost 25 years. Right now i feel like i am only a tangle of frayed nerve ensdings.....a pulse without purpose...

Hey Whiterasta that was really well done, no bs, the feeling truly comes across.

FreakQ thanks for quoting that song, it's been a long time since I thought of Vander Graff Generator. A friend of mine used to play their music a lot, it was a bit too zany for me, but definitely something different. I did like (one of the greatest all time song titles) "Plague of the Lighthouse Keepers". Whatever happened to them?

Plague of lighthouse keepers was one of the songs i quoted........vandergraff was really Peter Hamill's baby. In fact he disbanded vandergraff after pawn hearts in 1971 and focused entirely on his solo carer. "The silent corner and the empty stage"(1973) and "In Camera"(1974 being two classics.  He reformed van der graff for "Godbluff" in 1975. Hamill is still very active with both touring and recording and you can find the web's most comprhensive site at www.sofasound.com  i gotta say i never thought i'd run into anyone here who knew who vandergraff was :smile:

Thanks for the link. I haven't heard any of their music in about five years, I remember them being wacky but weirdly compelling. The friend I mentioned before had/has the most extensive album collection I've ever seen and he used to be into that stuff deeply, he turned me on to Syd Barrett solo albums, Matching Mole, obscure early 70's music of all sorts. I'll tell him about your posting Pawnhearts, get him to break out those albums...

Robert Wyatt! My friend was into him too, my friend is a drummer. If my facts are shakey here forgive me I'm going off of memory(old memories). Wyatt was a great drummer who lost the use of his legs in a fall out a 2 story window. He went on to put out some great, strange solo albums. I like Wyatt a great deal, there was a childlike quality to his music that was touching. I meant to buy some of his solo stuff but didn't follow through, but now I will since you reminded me. The other ones I am not familiar with but I'll ask my friend, if he has them I'd like to hear them. Thanks. :cool:

LOL! No, you have your facts/recollections of robert wyatt STR8. "ruth is stranger than Richard" was one of his better loved solo projects. i think you'll find that names like fred frith and henry kaiser pop up on most of the quasi obscure british art rock bands i mentioned. Chances are your friend is probably into people like kevin ayers and carla bley as well :smile:
