Mythology of the Self

I've been kind of getting into this stuff recently, looking into things like Joseph Campbell's monomyth and the journey into the labyrinth.

I'm traveling through India right now and I was wondering if anyone knows of any websites that give a good list of mythological symbols and their interpretation on how they pertain to the self?

Something that aims to capture subjective experiences into a mythological context or narrative perhaps?


Magical things happen when you travel and it seems like I need a road map for whats occuring...

i would like you to succeed in that ,

i will ask , can you simply focus for long periods of time on the symbols around you with or without a focus inducing catalyst :psychsplit: ? that is where you GET information FROM , and it is GROOVY , or , whatever metaphor is best !

Get The Power of Myth, the illustrated version, by Campbell o whet your appetite. Having given mine away, I accidentally bought  used 2nd copy, but w/o pics :sad:. I also bought (used) Campbell's 4 Masks of God series. This is my new phase of inquiry since I demythologized the Bible (in my mind) with the help of John Shelby Spong's writings.

I think the basic idea in Campbell's work is that mythology is a kind of primitive psychology, and things like the road of trials and the threshold guardians are things like self-discovery and the parents. The parents are threshold guardians before the world of self-determination, and it is the task of the hero to rip his libido away from the parents, as is mentioned in Jungian psychology.

Stuff like that. I think it's probably way more involved.
