Highly doubt the US has broken his encryption. He's not your everyday computer nerd. By looking into his past, you can see he is a genius when it comes to hacking and computer science.

I am wondering about this.  I read he was arrested in the past for hacking government networks.  I wonder if they cut him a deal and co-opted him?

Quote:
•In 1991, at the age of 20, Assange and some fellow hackers broke into the master terminal of Nortel, the Canadian telecom company. He was caught and pleaded guilty to 25 charges; six other charges were dropped. Citing Assange's "intelligent inquisitiveness," the judge sentenced him only to pay the Australian state a small sum in damages.

Indeed. And the people against Wiki Leaks are beyond stupid. I guess they
want everything hidden for them at all times.

I think Wikileaks should only post shit that exposes corrupt, powerful assholes for what they are; posting a bunch of random shit that doesn't expose corruption just harms innocent people.

How are innocent people being harmed??

Their private business becomes public. Duh.

Do you conisder having your private business being made public as being something that is harmful, or helpful? :strokebeard:

Does it matter? It's none of yours, and that's the point.

EDIT--I mean business as in:

an immediate task or objective

not as in:

a commercial or sometimes an industrial enterprise

Im telling you there is no computer trick that the CIA etc. haven't figured out.

If you think they let encryptions out that they cant break, thats a dream.

Besides tho, if he doesn't go down hard thats how you know we figured out the stuff he has and dont want it out.

I bet he ends up with a slap on the wrist and we dont get that pass phrase for 10 years.

The CIA is very powerful; so is the U.S. military.  Look at what happened in Afghanastan and Iraq.

The world isn't about pure numbers anymore man.  Quality has come to mean a lot.  Encryption has a HUGE lead on decryption at the moment; the world over.  What that means is that it is incredibly easier to lock shit up TIGHT than to decode it.  There are encryption types that are near impossible to break; they are based on logical algorithms that have been PROGRAMMED to take indefinite amounts of time to solve; sort of like a pi situation.  The smartest, fastest computer in the world will plug away on pi for forever and not reach a solution (if pi is indeed an irrational number; something that cannot be proven).

Well you  know what. Sometimes people have to be hurt in order to get things
done the right way. You do not think innocent people are being hurt right now??
Especially by our own government as well as all the others? Come on now.

There is so much information that the people need to know and Wiki Leaks is
helping receive that information. They are truly do good things here.

That's my point, people don't have to be hurt by Wikileaks if they just posted shit that exposed corruption by the rich & powerful.

I never said that, I'm only saying that collateral damage could be lessened if they (Wikileaks) were more choosy about what they posted.

He released over 400,000 documents pertaining to the iraqi and afghan war, and then 100,000 documents that disclosed conversations between US embassies.

In that case he is making secrets public to the people. But what about other nations? Please someone persuade me somewhere else, but so far im seeing. It sounds like espionage against the United States of America.

Much needed espionage.  What ever happened to freedom of the press? Or does that not apply to documents the U.S. government wants kept secret?

There should be no secrets, secrets is a big cause of corruption if everyone was just honest, shit would be better.
