What's This I Hear About Orange Juice Hampering a Trip?

Please, say it isn't so! (We buy the great O.J. by the gallon when we trip). I have heard rumours that it can sort of ruin a trip. But others say it works fine? Anybody know for sure?

All the rumours I've heard say just the opposite: OJ boosts a trip. Personally, I don't think it does anything....except taste FUCKING AMAZING. I go through tons of the stuff when I trip.

I have never noticed a difference one way or the other with OJ. I agree that it tastes awesome and helps smooth over the rough sometimes.

Orange juice is GOD's FUCKING gift to Mankind.
Pure and simple.
That's why I got really paranoid when I started hearing stuff about it sort of stomping on a trip... orange juice is just something that I don't want to trip without.

lately i've been hearing that its grapefruit juice that actually boosts the trip, but OJ shouldn't harm the trip in any way.

Grapefruit is known to increase the effects of many different legal drugs. This was proven in a study a few years back. I have even seen warning labels on pill bottles telling you not to mix with alcohol or grapefruit juice.

Grapefruit juice will increase the effects of some drugs, not any psychedelics are far as I know. I think it breaks down an enzyme in your stomach, allowing more of some drugs to be absorbed. I'm pretty sure it will increase the effects of opiates, but not mushrooms or other psychedelics.

You're correct, Grapefruit induces potentiation of benzos, amphetamines, and opiates... not psychedelics.

Oj doesn't do anything one way or another (if it does, it's merely placebo, which can be a very powerful affect) - but as people have stated Oj does taste quite nice :cool:

i think it varies

personally, i found orange juice to hinder my trip, i ate like 4 grams dried and usually that would straight fuck me up, but i drank lots of orange juice and i never got to a peak, just a 4 hour long relativley light trip, and i smoked lots of weed too, maybe that was it

Actually,anything with citric acid (orange juice,grapefruit juice) can fuck with the PH of your stomach and decrease the absorbtion of many drugs.However,grapefruit juice will inhibit certain liver enymes and and increase the effects of many drugs (opiates-excluding codeine,many benzos,amphetamines).I recommend if anybody uses grapefruit for boosting drugs,they drink a little milk or take antacids to balance the stomach's acidity for better absorbtion.

Tonight I dosed around 30mg of oxycodone and I ate a grapefruit about 15 minutes after I took them. It definately boosts the effects, I had really pleasent nods just drifting in and out of sleep with my body in a state of warm ecstacy.

I did the same thing,but it was 50 MG of hydrocodone.You should drink the grapefruit beforehand though,it works better.

Hello everyone, it has been about 2 years since I have posted on the board, it has been so long that I forgot my long in password, anyways, OJ doesn't ahve an effect on your trip, if you want a trip enchancer try eating chocolate. The chemicals in the chocolate actually enhace the affect!

It takes way to much chocolate to actually be to useful to boost certain drugs, just try another MAOI like p. harmala.

if you do things you enjoy while tripping, it's a trip enhanced, because it catapults you deeper into yer bliss. lotta people like orange juice (who doesnt?).

some people say it calms them down. some people say it makes a trip stronger. i think people who dont like it, but drink it to trip harder mess up their trip, whilst people who just drink it cuz its delicious, have fun :-)

makes sense, yes?

I don't think it ruins the trip in anyway at all. I usually have it to make the mush come on faster.
