What better way to train for parkour then actually doing parkour?

who cares if you look a fool, just enjoy yourself.

for example, i saw some guys doing roller-blading tricks and my mouth was saying that they were fags, but I was thinking that it was actually kind of cool because they were good at it.

If you wanna practice without your feelings getting hurt (should be your least concern in this sport) go do some gymnastics :kingcrankey:

For training with actual parkour when you are new to it there is real simple skill building exercise.

You simply walk around and look for a location that is hard to get to. It's training so you don't need to be efficient if you're focusing on building skills. You could walk into a park and decide to vault two fences, scale the large fence and then make your way to the top of a dugout or small building. Try different methods to get there and condition yourself. No one can teach you how to get on that structure, you need to find out for yourself how you're going to get on there.

Use creativity when training. Try vaulting the fences different ways each time and find out which is the fastest and which is the safest.
Improvise to learn your skills. Climb trees in your woods. Jump over the lawn furniture. Climb onto your porch. Climb onto you shed.

Teach yourself how to jump off of larger objects. Here's a tip, if the structure you're jumping off of is taller than your body height you should land it in a roll to avoid foot injury. The better you get at controlling falls, landing in rolls and recovering from rolls the more comfortable jumping off of higher and higher objects becomes.

Start applying the mindset you use during training to your every day life and don't worry about what other people think of you.

Once you take parkour and its thought process off of your training area and begin to incorporate it into actually getting from point A to point B efficiency will come naturally.

Once you become in tune with your body take it to the streets. When you're walking look around for shortcuts to where you need to be. Cut through the alley and scale two fences rather than walking around the whole block. Why walk down that medium flight of stairs when you could just vault the railing on the side of it?

That's what parkour is about, you don't seek obstacles, you seek to eliminate obstacles.

If you aren't good enough to look like a badass I would recommend training in a gym with padding.

What You Agree said is true, if you're trying to do parkour you shouldn't be attempting flips and aesthetic acrobats.

the human body can be conditioned to do such amzing things. if my leg heals, i will most definitely pick this up as a hobby. and not give a fuck what people think as i train. all the people that are awesome at it started from the same point your at.

Right on. I love thinking in new thought processes or seeing the world around me in new ways. I've never attempted Parkour but every time i see admiral footage of someone doing it, it almost inspires me to go out there and start looking for walls to scale.

If it's that big of a deal, go to a nature reserve, a park, or find a wooded area to do your flips, jumps and climbing on tress and whatnot.

--------------------
External control, are you gonna let them get you?
Do you wanna be a prisoner in the boundaries they set you?
You say you want to be yourself, do you think they'll let you?
They're out to get you.

gotta agree with what has been said, care less about others and just do it man. have fun, and be safe dood. remember a lot of the videos you see are of people doing it for a long time and most have a history of gymnastics so just be mindful of your limits and rock n roll
