getting motivated for college/school.
    #13505983 -

it seems like the last semester ive had a who gives a fuck attitude towards school.

for me it seems to just be an endless cycle of show up to class, listen to a sometimes interesting but, most of the time boring lecture, then watch a boring movie from the 1950's that no one cares (or really cared about at the time) about, and then write a paper on it.
when it comes to the paper part i always procrastinate and put it off to the last minute.

i just cant sit there with a blank page, and try and think of something to write about if i dint find the movie interesting, insightful or even fun to begin with.

anyone else find themselves in this situation? any tips?

ive got another semester ive gotta wait to try and get the hands on production classes i really want and would work my ass off in but i dont know if i can stand another semester of the same old bullshit.

change your major to something you enjoy is all i can think of.

once you get past the shitty core curriculum classes, all of your classes should be stuff you like. otherwise your just going to hate it even after you get your degree.

Me and a few of my buddies were just talking about this. Idk why but classes just seem fucking pointless to me this semester. I'm like just going through the motions, I used to have like some kind of drive but its gone now

Just do the work.  I get good grades, but I procrastinate like fuck too.  Really bad habit and has meant the last few nights I've ended up with 5 hours of sleep or less.  I just try to make sure I always finish the things I have to and usually at some point my desire to go to sleep or get high or overwhelms my desire to put it off for another hour.  I just realized I want to get high tonight so I'm gonna start on my homework.  You've been an inspiration.

Focus on hitchcock, an entire semester of his movies, he has made many greats like psycho, rear window and a few more, were focusing on his 50 other ones that were good but not great.

Focus on scifi, my fav class this semester but no 2001 I could have written a thesis on 2001

Contemporary cinema: easy class rarely (maybe once a month a lecture) but we watched pretty much everything wes anderson has made and I just don't get his humor and the overall awkward feeling I get from his movies.

And film dissent and black lists: old school radical hippie teacher with a great dry sense of humor

yeah, same here. im not learning anything, its easy enough to not know shit and get a passing grade but uninteresting enough were i wont study it (i have dropped 2 classes this semester though). i get that same going through the motions feelings. i recently got back into my university after a 3 year break and i really feel like shit is going downhill as far as higher education goes. i have had some really shitty professors this semester, the type that dont teach you whats going to be on the test. its really a joke as far as the learning aspect but atleast their is hot chicks and plenty of people getting fucked up around.
