Yes, south India, same area as Niwita has been based in. No relationship beyond the reserve I was walking in having requisite guides and those guides belonging to local tribes, jobs given to them as way of compensation for displacing them with the reserve. The guides I've had have had no particular interest in mushrooms, but know about the ecosystems which surround them and what is and isn't directly useful to them.

Leptonia has been used as a synonym, but, according to Largent, technically it is a genus of its own within Entolomataceae with a subgenus of the same name.

Largent says Entolomas are tricholomatoid and the pileus is gray or gray-brown and appressed, fibrillose-rivulose or with aeriferous hyphae or fibrils; clamps present in pileipellis; pileal context typically 5 mm or more in width; pileal trama, at least above the stipe apex, 'puzzle-shape' in appearance due to the short, broad hyphae which average 40-160 microns in length; subpellis typically not inflated and thus not differentiated from the pileal trama whereas Leptonias have either a pileipellis with a layer of entangled hyphae at least on the pileal disc and clamps present in the pileipellis, or pileipellis a layer of submoniliform hyphae and clamps absent in the pileipellis; pileus entirely appressed squamulose, squamose, fibrillose-scaly, or tomentulose in the subgenus Leptonia or a pileipellus hymeniform (rarely) or more typically a palisadoderm, a palisade-terichodermium, or a trichodermium, at least on the pileal disc, clamps absent in the pileipellis; pileus with a tomentulose disc, appressed squamulose from the disc outwards, and appressed fibrillose to glabrous at the margin in the subgenus Cyanula.
