2nd opinion on Brown Birch Bolete, please
    #13349185 -

I stumbled upon these yesterday. I'm 99% they're Brown Birch Boletes; found at the base of a Birch (with no other trees around). It has been very dry over the past few days, I'm guessing they're fully mature BBB's but probably cracked from the heat and dryness of the site? - a slate quarry.

As I say I'm sure they're BBB's - any opinions would be great.

Cheers guys
Yea they're pretty tasty, no where near as good as Penny Buns - Boletus edulis, but great dried (sometimes powdered) and bunged in stews, pasta, risottos, soups, omlettes, roasting/bbqing marinades etc...
Pan fried on their own they get a bit slimy (like most boletes) which is why I prefer to sting 'em up and dry 'em.
