I.D request, british columbia,

went walking in the woods, thought these were interesting..

habitat: around the base of a tree, in the woods of the lower mainland, british columbia

gills: gills are attached, dark brown

stem: skinny, tall, hollow, off white almost beige.


spore print color: very dark purple, almost black

bruising: no noticable bruising

picked in abbotsford british columbia

no I didn't pick them, just want to know what they're called. are they worth picking?

They're edible, but unremarkable IMHO.

Of course I've never found them in large enough quantities and in good enough shape to make a meal, so perhaps they're better in volume.

I find large quantities of them regularly, their best feature in my opinion is that they can make 2-3 eggs fill you up like 4-5 (Which is especially nice after a long day of hunting and finding nothing else).

dont forget to metnion that coprinus has a chemical in it that if ingested with alcohol otgether in a 72 hour period can make you horribly sick.

though its the species atramentarius, i believe this aplies to all of the coprinus genus,

No, it doesn't actually.  There's no Coprine in Mica caps.

really? huh i could of swore there was. i was told by "amanita rita" (a renown mycologist) that mica's could cause adverse reactions with alcohol. i geuss her strong points really are just amanita's :shrug:
