Any botanists or horticulturists here?
    #13265576 -

I'm currently in my second year at a community college and I'm considering studying horticulture or botany. I am very interested in science and nature, although I don't want a career that involves intensive lab work because my math skills are lacking and it's just not the kind of work I'd want to be doing. The work is just too intensive, though quite frankly very fascinating. I am mainly interested in field work or growing plants. Ethnobotany also sounds very interesting as I am also semi-interested in anthropology, having taken quite a few courses already. I understand these are broad fields with various subdivisions and I can really take my knowledge in a lot of directions and do a lot of things.

I'm just a confused kid really. Growing plants is an upcoming hobby of mine and I love nature and the outdoors as well as traveling, so this is kind of something I am beginning to research. I'm wondering if anyone here as anything to share.

Planter Breeder, plant pathologist, landscaper, working at a nursery... I've been looking at these things too, but I don't think getting a degree in botany or horticulture is worth. Try to get a job at a nursery, I regret not doing that last summer, definitely gonna try harder this next spring.

Take classes that you are interested in, pursue your pursuits outside of school, and it'll come together eventually.

That's true. Things do tend to work themselves out. I have a lot of difficulty making important decisions. Fuck it, I guess I'll see where it takes me
