why do you think it's laziness?

realize that when washed it takes a lot more effort to clean them.

some people twist them a lot.  that takes effort.

most regular folks just get a haircut every 2 months.  shampoo it.  done.

dreads, in some cases and at some moments, are the antithesis of laziness.

earning them is a different story.
Achieving locks (as I call them, cuz I don't like the word "dread") takes a lot of patience.  That is effort, but in the opposite of what everyone thinks of as effort.  Have you ever tried to be patient?  "Man, is my burrito going to be done soon?" or "I can't wait for the concert this weekend!"...

It takes self control.  It's a whole process, whether or not effort is put into the manicuring of them, mental stimuli is, at points, peaking.

I didn't explain it as best as possible, but you've got the idea.  and if you don't - you never will.

dude i've had dreads before you don't have to tell me how much effort it takes. i know it takes effort and patience but fapjack is talking about a tour kid who just lets his/her hair lock up. which usually result in pretty ugly and disgusting dreads in my opinion. if you get your dreads through the act of neglect. then you haven't really earned anything. cause
a) they look like shit and

b) you didn't make any effort in having those dreads you just let it happen.

You "let things go" and you get matted bedhead - you "enjoy the journey" with a lot of "patience" and "self control" and you magically have natural hetty locks

I'm saying there are people who have locks as a lifestyle, and others who have them as a fad and comb them out when they don't like it any more because people are staring at them with ugly looks on their faces.

Also, I'm saying that if you have long hair and neglect it, the locks won't look right.

you're missing some logic pathways in your neural network, brah.

it's okay, brah.

You just don't understand.

You can't fucking comb out locks if you set them appropriately dipshit - but you can if you don't bother because you're too lazy and dirty in the first place!

Do you think I combed these out after 4 years of growth? You probably assumed I didn't know what the fuck I was talking about because I don't agree with your preconceived mystic notions of what constitutes legitimate dreadlocks and what does not :sarcasticclap:

I shaved my fucking head like a man, I didn't sit there like some little bitch attempting to "comb out" my hair in some vain attempt to save all my precious rasta-antennae

I'm all for chicks with dreads.

But I can't deal with hairy armpits or a big bush.

you can too if you start at the ends, fella.

and the topic of this thread is wimmenz.

Women that follow the fad thing are more likely to get upset when their style is met with disapproving stares.

so they'll rectify it and they won't do it by shaving their heads.

brah.

like a man - you used buzzers?  Manly.

In Hawai'i an hawai'ian man told me that you're not a man unless you can make fire from sticks/things you can find provided by nature.
As a man's role is to cook food for his family.

you used obsidian to cut the hair from your scalp?

brah?

Its more a souvenir of the journey, kind of like getting stabbed in a bar fight and having a scar on your face.  People that have dreads on purpose are the people that wear purple hearts because they like the way they look, though they have never been to war.
