For some reason I thought I read Pereskia..

Still, the same rule applies; Pereskiopsis spp. cacti are predominantly C3 plants. They do fix a little CO2 at night (CAM), but it is usually approximately 1/4 of the amount fixed during the day..

Interesting, where is it you learned about this? I'd like the reference...
Also does this mean that when the very young opuntia pads have those tiny little leaf things on them they are doing some form of C3?

If so - I bet under the right conditions they would be slightly larger, and stay on longer -- not really useful but would be interesting just to confirm.

Ah I am not sure about the leaf structures on Opuntia spp. pads.. I could find out, but I won't haha - got too many other thangs to be doin'. But, they probably would be used for C3 photosynthesis to some degree - probably depends a lot on the species native range..

Strange, I had a dream about Opuntias lastnight haha..

i agree with giving it natural sun light but for grafting Do not water your plant or place it in the Sun for a few days to a week, give the graft time to seal. Then remove the bindings and slowly acclimatize your new friend to its surroundings and slowly introduce it to full sun
