What is this all supposed to be teaching us, anyways? That opting out of things is bad? That people are insecure with themselves and need a rating to feel important? That there's an increasingly large amount of fags on the Shroomery?

Personally, I've opted out because of abuse of the system. Trade ratings give a better picture of someone's character. I'd never trade with anyone in OTD(they're only interested in buttsecks anyways). Before, the
Admins never did anything about the rating system, and now it's so fucked with it's a joke(always was).

...I disagree.  Someone who has been here awhile can generally distinguish abuse of the system and trolling from a genuine rating. Either way, if you have been a member longer than a few months, troll ratings will be a minority.

Plus, you cannot leave someone a bad trade rating when they are a gravely horrible poster or unintelligent asshole.

Not specifically directed at you Doc but can someone explain me how ignoring dozens of people isnt considered butthurtz or otherwise being a weenie?

I'm in favor of it if Ythan wants to code it.  Next step would be autoignoring members of particular ages and nationalities. Then comes ignoring people who have a specific forum in their top five of most posted forums.  Or people who use a particular meme or word a lot.

I'm in favor of all of that if there is public demand for it, but wouldnt use any of them myself.

I believe in an unfiltered Shroomery experience and oldfashioned ignoring of obnoxious people with your mind rather than a button click, save for application of common sense and necessary rules. But, I won't push that view on people. If the people want filters, let there be filters in all colors of the rainbow.

If you are ignoring a rabidly obnoxious asshole with your mind, you are learning a life skill useful on the job and in your personal life, a life skill in fact strongly advocated by oldschool OTD. If you ignore people with a button click you are creating a sheltered protected environment for yourself, and not taking the Shroomery as it is in allm its brutal honesty.

OTD used to be all about "DEAL WITH IT" now its all about nagging Ythan to code novel ways to enable you to not deal with it.

Doc_T is ignoring 118 people.... which is certainly not 94% of the people who have registered this month (959 users).

Ignoring someone because you don't care for they're practice is fine...but they can see you. Everyone that grows in they're parents houses & dorms can still say they idolize you and associate they're grows to you...and really, anyone who has 0 ignores will see everyone that would or could say that about you. You ignoring anyone really doesn't do anything except show you less posts on the boards out of the 900+ people that join monthly including types that will notice you post more then almost anyone on this board and predominantly in Mush Cult which is the most 'convicting' place to post if your paranoid. There's nobody in the Cult that is more "there" when something would go down, then you. Regardless of how little your letting yourself see.

Its a little different then not riding in a car with a dealer or unsavory type...and having your name plastered all over the MushCult wall and then denying any involvement with what people decide to do with your work & advice.

At the end of the day. To cultivate said mushrooms is illegal in 90% of the countries in the world.

Kids, beggars, college kids or full grown adults. At the end of the day...unless you live in a minority country, its like trying to defend helping someone steal something. Its still an illegal practice. 20K posts of it.
