So,we want to see what you're using for your Monotub/Mini Mono/MSG/Mini MSG's.

Not everyone uses the same tub for their setup so there's a lot of different setups going on I'm sure.

Doc_T uses the Sterilite 1896's for his Mini MSG's

Basically we just want to see what you're using for your particular monotub based FC.

What differences are there between two different tubs used in the same style (mono vs mono,mini mono vs mini mono,msg vs msg,mini msg vs mini msg).

As Doc_T said,we can all get together and find out what style is best suited to a specific environmental condition and also figure out how to apply this to new grows and to answer is their an optimal size,or is it just based on what your needs/wants are...


So with all that said,let's see those mono's and msg's and their mini counterparts!

I was saying weaksauce because I thought I posted this yesterday morning and there were no replies...but then I remembered I posted it THIS morning :laugh2: :facepalm3:

I agree,it needs pics.When I OP'd I just added a link to your 27qt Sterilite 1925 thread and your original mini mono thread and my 17qt KIS Omi box thread.


Pics of my 17qt KIS Omni box with 1/4" holes drilled and spaced every 2" apart.No pics of the substrate mixed in but I layered my sub and spawn using 4 layers of bulk substrate and 3 layers of spawn.

I'll have pics of it fully colonized when it's done in maybe another 5-7 days.

I'm about to build my first mono / MSG hybrid type tub to get back into growing... (been inactive for 5+ yrs). I have yet to shop around for containers... is there any specific size/style that someone has been wanting to test? I don't mind trying something new.

Any size you want and any style you want man!

I'm currently on the mini thing because I don't like the idea of all my eggs (spawn) sitting in one giant basket...more smaller tubs = spread out spawn = greater chance at a higher success rate FTW :thumbup:

Be sure to post it up here when you do get around to buying and building!

Yeah I've seen the sterilite 1896 file folder containers that Doc_T has. I like the idea of multiple smaller tubs to spread your risk out. I'll probably go shopping today or tomorrow and see what I can find around here that looks good.

Four 6qt shoe boxes in a SFC style dub tub made from Sterilite 1860s
(41 qt under bed storage containers)

Some 6qt Shotgun Dub-Tubs Ive got made up. Inspired by Doc. Few coats of black spray paint on the bottom halves. By definition not a mono I suppose.

And a single cake SG.

Getting high and forgetting what day it is... we are kindred spirits my friend...:jah:

Here is my mini with 11/64 " holes. I tried it at  ambient rh of 45-55 and found the evaporation to be insufficient. It was set and forget and yielded just over 2 oz first flush.


Here is my other mini with 1/4" holes and a solid lid; also set and forget. The evaporation was a little too much, I think just a tad less would have been better. It also yielded just over 2 Oz first flush.


Next tub is gonna be 3/16" holes.

It belongs here...I came to the shroomery back in 2004 and had no knowledge of mono tubs or dub tubs,I come back earlier this year and find so many new FC teks...but didn't the dub tub make way for the monotub?

Awesome,haven't seen anyone using that particular tote...what kind is that and how much spawn/substrate do you have in there?What kind of environment are you providing (ambient RH%,etc.)?

Awesome,two Mini MSG's with different hole sizes (still 2" apart?) and a third you're going to make with 3/16" holes...looking forward to your results!

I'm making another one tomorrow with the second 17qt KIS Omni box I bought.I'm going to put more holes in this one...unfortunately I won't be able to run this one side by side with the one currently colonizing but it will be nice to see the difference (if any at all) between the two mini MSG's in my location.

I found the paint I used wasn't very durable, tape lasts longer. But either way, I think you'll like them.

Yep, The first couple coats were cheap $.99 paint, seemed to chip off easily when Tubs would flex.

Switched out to a more expensive Krylon Flat Black, seems to have alot more elasticity. And much less chipping.

At the rate you shove tubs in and out of your Green House not many paints would hold up :smile:

As soon as these cakes do their thing, and Im able to get some clone material. Cant wait to try these out!

I've seen alot of mini mono/sg hybrids that work well, but has anyone had concept work for larger tubs instead of a few larger holes?

Trying it out tonight, but would like to hear some stories of people trying the hybrid on a large tub as well.

PErsonally I am using multiple six qts to keep my losses in time, spawn, money and fruits down.
I seem to be right on target to match monos yeild per qt of spawn....

Had some shit go on last night but i have the 64 qt tubs i was going to try out with the hybrid design.  Ill get some updates going.
