Quick questions for mini-mono-tub 60/40 case

Did 3 days of searching and couldn't find the answers i'm looking for, can someone knowledgeable please help?
Before you answer, i know there are lots of methods and materials for what i'm going to do, but i need to know things based on what i have handy right now. If i didn't provide you with the information you need to answer my question, please ask, and i'll get it to you.
FYI, I plan on using 2 crumbled cakes per case. The tub size is 5" square and 10" high. I would like to only use this and not have to use a Fruiting Chamber. Think of it like a mini-mono-tub.
1.) In a 60/40 coir and verm casing, which is the 60% material and which is the 40% material?
2.) Calcium carbonate is only lightly mentioned, so is this even necessary using coir/verm or is the pH pretty balanced anyway? My coir is the bed-a-beast brand if that makes any difference.
3.) I have a fine white powder, pure Calcium Carbonate, product called Jurassi-Cal (only mentioned once here). Says it's concentrated to 380,000 ppm. Is this ok to use, if i even need it? If so, how much? (see proposed recipe below)
4.) There is another product called Jurassi-Vite or something, and it's basically a bunch of powdered up vitamins and nutrients for reptiles (including Calcium carbonate). Would this be better to use, or good to use in addition to the pure calcium carb., so that the mushies get more nutrients?
5.) Can anyone possibly provide me a good recipe for mixing all the ingredients? So far i'm estimating the following:
3 cups of the 60% material (coir or verm, please let me know) 2 cups of the 40% material (verm or coir, please let me know) .25 cup of Calcium Carbonate and/or Vitamin suppliment
I cannot find Oyster shells anywhere, and i don't have time to order. I would rather not use egg shells just because i'm a stubborn ass, and i don't want to waste eggs or store open or cooked ones.
I apologize for my directness, i just want to get good answers to save time and energy.
Thanks a mil folks, see you on the other side!!

If you want to do something like a mini-mono-tub, you are going to need something taller. I have done something similar with a 5 gallon bucket. Thats about enough head room with a 6" substrate depth for it to work.
The rest of your reasoning looks like it would fruit success.

I found this quote on this TEK.
Quote:
Then you add your vermiculite. Add a little more vermiculite than coco coir. (by volume)

Alright your coir to vermiculite ratio is to be debated, a 50/50 ratio will work just fine. In a casing such as this I would use 60% coir as you will need all the nutrients you can get, but make sure it is not too wet just a few drops of water through your fingers when really squeezed. In a small environment things can go one way or the other quickly. Calcium carbonate will increase yield slightly but if in doubt leave it out, in any case just a little(1 teaspoon) should be fine. Like others said above the size of your container is lacking but if you must use that container it should work you might have to pick a little early(short) but that won't hurt much. Just break up the cakes and case with a 1/2-1 inch layer. Make sure to have plenty of fresh air and make sure it does not dry out but be even more wary of water logging if you mist. Good luck! Trout
-------------------- I need tropical cultures, ABM, V.v....!!!! Well things don't always look as they are and things can be misread and mistaken for what they realy are so don't read too much into what I say since I might be mistaken myself. And remember I rarely ever give a definate answer.

Thank you all for your suggestions and help! I really appreciate all the quick replies!!
I too was a bit concerned about the height, but i want to keep this *very* small so i think i'm going to try it anyway.
I figure a .5" layer on bottom, about a 2" layer of substrate (from the two jars, crumbled), and another .5"-1" layer on top. I'm not sure if it's 10" or 12" that i'm working with, but i think i'll have enough; at least for some small shrooms like trout pointed out. I'm not looking for monsters, just better than needle stems and dime caps, like my cakes sometimes produce.
As for FAE, the containers are the "snap-shut" Sterillite ones with a small microwave steam vent on top. I figure a couple of holes, and a hose from an air pump would be enough to keep a good thing going. I can use the casing to keep it's own moisture, and the pump for FAE. I want to do as little day to day work as possible.
Any suggestions about the nutrients from the Jurassi-Vite, or maybe some powdered Centrium or something? Would adding vitamins and minerals help out the little guys in a significant sort of way?
Thanks again peoples!!
