When to hunt for Liberty Caps in Nova Scotia, Canada
    #13151841 -

Hey guys.  I'm new to this forum.  I used this site years ago to learn about cultivation, and used to grow some P. Cubensis.  Back then it had a much different layout.

I lived on Ontario then, but now I'm in Nova Scotia.  I've heard that there are Liberty Caps to be found here, around this time of year.  Can any of you help me with this?  Hurricane Earl just passed, and we had lots of rain.  Would I be able to find them in the next couple of days?  Or is it too early in the year?

From what I understand, they are best found in long grass, on newer lawns or (even better) on or near pasture land.

I want to make a trip out to the Windsor area of Nova Scotia and spend a day hunting (I'm in the Halifax area; I'm thinking of going to Windsor because there are farms out that way).  Is there anyone on here who is from Nova Scotia that has experience hunting Liberty Caps?  If so, can you give me some insight on when/ where to go?

When I do find some mushrooms, I'll post pics on here (good ones) for ID.  I've done lots of reading on the Libs, so I have a good idea what I'm looking for.

Any help appreciated.

Cheers,

M

No asking/discussing the weather or when or where to find certain mushrooms (read the rules).

You should be able to find them depending on the temperature. Temperatures (at least at night) should drop to at least around 10° Celsius, then they'll start to fruit.
