I think anyone that has been to war has felt far in over their heads and will disagree that watching a couple war flicks could have prepared them for it.

Go up to a vet and try to relate anything at all about war to them. You'll leave feeling pretty naive yourself.

any good director does research. it's not like they just pull everything for a story out of thin air. Of course you dont know how to do something until you physically do it but you can have a pretty good idea. especially in regards to war, there will be death, there will be danger. What man signs up for the military unaware that he may be asked to kill?

AH! But researching the truth behind war is extremely hard without initiatives like those taken by Wikileaks. How can you really research something that is so hidden from public view?

Just because you can read a job description and pass an interview, it doesn't mean you know what you're getting yourself into. Most people just look at the benefits and relief of telling people, 'Hey I know what I'm doing with my life'. They are blinded by the percs and truly have no idea what mess they're setting themselves up for.

Also, every man who signs up to the defence force must first willingly admit that he is prepared to kill, they throw you back if you say you wont.

you're pretty naive if you think a movie, no matter how realistic or well
researched, it does not even begin to compare to what these men and women
go through on a daily basis even after the war is over
