SUPPORT OUR TROOPS: Bring them HOME!

Why must they risk their lives in a country that had NOTHING to do with 9/11?

Can't wait until our soldiers get to come home!!!

I don't feel sorry for soldiers. Besides that 90% of them are cocky pricks and they signed up for war in the first place.

Most people are quick to judge and lack the ability to mentally place themselves in that scenario and see an unbiased viewpoint.

cant say my view is objective, if a civilian surrounds themselves with armed men in a combat zone, they'll discover what happens to everyone, there was a lot of behavior that was out of place or just wrong for all of them to be journalists, the 2 AKs I saw certainly were not camera equipment, tripods dont have sights that look like this

Sorry for the 124day bump, but this video is 100% relevant and really shows how much we fail.
A soldier in the video speaks out,

Our military leadership is fucked. A bunch of sadistic loons.

that would be me in the military. I have multiple friends in or getting back from afghanistan and ive heard the same things, especially about having to keep up the tough guy persona.

and the rest of the story is the two reporters killed where with armed insurgents.......my son did 2 tours in iraq, he told me abuot the fucking shit they do to make it look like the US is fucked up... he said, as soon as some bullshit starts, like a little kid suddenly falling down in the street in front of your vehicle, that you step on the gas and GTFO and get ready to kill everything in sight because if you dont, you will be dead.  ITS A FUCKING WAR, and not one we should be in.  Especially afghanistan...oh, he id a tour there too.

I don't know anyone who has served there so I'm just going by this video and other accounts I've read.  It sounded pretty clear to me that the higher ups(or at least quite a few who were in contact with this specific soldier) in the military have no mercy or empathy for the civilians OR our soldiers..

I agree though these wars are so counter productive..without a doubt we've created many more people who hate America and want revenge.

could it have been that the reporters had a private security escort?

i thank those who have spoken up here and voiced their concerns on this. it's sad to see some of the remarks some of you make here.
may peace be upon you.

Yea, My son hates the higher ups way more than we do.  Nonetheless, his best friend was killed by an 'innocent civilian (little kid)so he said the motto is 'when in doubt, kill em all and let God sort it out...' everything else is political horseshit that will get you killed really fast. And, he is one of the most fanatic, anti-war people I have ever known.

then they would have been firing on blackwater or any of the dozen other
security contractors that were in iraq at the time, the sight profile on
the rifles show AK-47s, the security contractors were using M4s or
variants of the m-16, if they were Iraqi contractors they were obviously
not authorized for this duty

We lost ~3k people in the WTC attack.  There have been ~100k Iraqi civilian deaths so far.  I think it's pretty safe to say that terrorist organizations probably don't have any problems finding new people to enroll.

I'm glad I live in the middle of nowhere, not that it's much consolation, because I'd be willing to wager I'll see a nuke go off in the US somewhere in my lifetime.  I'd be interested to see how we react when our death toll of non-combatants amounts to nearly 100k.

the numbers are bullshit because these are listed by Iraq Bodycount as
'violent deaths', that includes bombs from insurgents, auto accidents,
robberies, and numerous other killings not even associated with combat
including those deaths of the enemy combatants

Why do you say that? Personally I think he wants the war to end and is trying to get people to realize the horrors of war. Some people do things for others and not just themselves..

That isn't entirely correct.  My stepbrother worked for some British security company in Iraq for 18 months as security, they armed him with an AK-47.

I say he is not looking for fame he is doing it for a moral cause. You're trying to discredit his experience by saying he is only seeking fame which seems rather insulting to me.

I can't help but agree with Prisoner#1, that soldier is looking for publicity or something.

Since I've read the thread to this point, I guess I'll drop my 2 cents. Imo, all parties involved failed.

The reporters failed for hanging out with two guys with AK-47s, in a group, near an active combat zone. Go mingle with the population when marines aren't moving through the area with gunship support, tense as fuck. If I was a reporter in Iraq, I think I'd stay behind the U.S. line of fire DURING the fire fight, rather than go interview Mohammed al-whatever with his AK-47 over there.

As for the van, as was stated already, insurgents will return to collect weapons, evidence, and bodies in order to prevent U.S. intel being gathered, and they will bring children with them to do it. Now I'm not saying that that is what happened, all I'm saying is it does happen, and marines are trained to be aware of that going on. So their reaction seems justifiable, given the situation. Personally, I woulda shot the guys with AK-47s but I dunno about the van, it looked like it was in pretty good condition, nothing about its screamed terrorist to me, other than the fact that they actually drove INTO a hotzone that just met a HAILSTORM barrage of bullets. Combat medics are brave, but seriously? A helicopter just shot the fuck out of that and you are gonna run over there without a U.S. military uniform on and start grabbin up people and shit? The closest thing I have to a military experience is violent video games, but seriously? You're gonna drive up to the smoldering, scarred courtyard and start throwing bodies in your van with KIDS in it. You had KIDS in your van, you should be driving the OPPOSITE fucking direction of gunfire.

The gunner's fail because of how much they are enjoying it.
The higher ups fail for covering it up. Honesty about what happened would have hurt the U.S. less from the beginning here.
