FINALLY BUILDING CLEAN ROOM

finally going to build a clean room that will be dedicated to the shrooms... it will be 8 x 5 by 8 foot tall with an completly sealed door all walls will be sealed and air tight.walls will be wipeable and stainless steel work table.plan on installing a furnace type fan with flange in upper corner of wall with a filter(unsure of what type)blowing into room.then a discharge area for air at oppisite side of room caddy corner at floor level.any suggestions would be great just started so any changes are no big deal....

Sounds expensive, time consuming, space consuming, and not very efficient since #1 vector for
contamination would be from you.

Save yourself time, money, space, and aggravation. Build a flowhood. Can be done for under $300!

I spent about the same on my flowhood as my pressure cooker.

Yes but there are advantages. And contamination from you would be cut out by the suit you have to wear in a clean room.

I support anyone willing to get this serious, and I have seen a number of ideas on this board that would be obscenely difficult without a cleanroom or something similar.

Keep us posted and don't forget youll need some kind of entryway decontam deal, some way of not dragging a ton of germs in with you everytime you open the door.

I have never seen anything on this board that could not easily be accomplished in front of a
flowhood, and probably easier so.

A positive pressure clean room is only as sterile as everyone, and everything that is brought inside.

When working in front of a flowhood, the space between your filter and your medium is just
as sterile as you hope the air in your clean room is.

You are FAR FAR FAR better off constructing a room that is non-porous (tile) and kept sanitary,
then placing a flowhood in that.
