Grifola frondosa contamination or not ????

Hi All,

Yesterday I opened the bag of Grifola frondosa and it was clear white and 1 day later is change from colour :confused: is this normal or contamination ????

You shouldn't worry. If you achieved 100% colonization, also if there are molds, it will fruit.

You must be sure just to keep the block isolated from to others blocks.

Well... Tom... you don't give us a clue if it is brown or grey..

Anyway, I'd also say it should be within the usual range. Be prepared that the block will start to sweat out brownish droplets soon. If it turns out to be mold on top, just bury the block in a garden bed or flower pot, it will fruit fine there.

Hi yesterday it looks like grey and now it looks more brown. I hope it is not contaminated I hate contamination :mad2:

You will know within a week. Could also be caused by the increase of FAE. As Fabio said, no need to worry. I once had a maitake block which was covered by green mold and still fruited fine after being placed in a bucket with soil.
