Dear friend,

As an average, how much time does is take Grifola frondosa to completely colonize a 90mm petri dish?
What is your favorite agar for GF? Do you prefer liquid culture for inoculation of spawn?

I have a strain from UC Berkeley's herbarium collection that colonizes a MEA plate in about 7-12 days depending on environmental conditions. I always like to use a liquid culture because it seems my colonization is so much more even and uniform, as well as much faster, and being able to expend a petri dish into 1000 G1 grain spawn jars (3 jars of liquid broth 750ml = 2250ml LC. Injecting 3-4ml's into each grain jar = 750 jars G1 grain spawn. Injecting 2ml = 1125 jars G1 grain spawn). This contrasts with the ten jars that could be inoculated from the same petri directly. Hope that helps,
Light and Love,
JD
