Going Kayaking today....

Kinda stoked....


Haven't been yet this summer.



Me and a buddy are gonna be doing a short stretch of a river in the Sierra Nevada foothills....About an 8 mile stretch if memory serves me correct. Though we usually take our time, and stop at a few points along the way to chill, swim, cliff jump, and smoke bowls....



I was thinking about taking some LSD, but probably just going to stick to bowls and a couple beers for today :thumbup: ....





Anyone else do the Kayaking thing?

i was obsessed with buying myself a kayak and taking it down the river, but with most of the rivers around here being dumps for shopping trollies and cars, i dont think it would be such a beautiful thing.

but when i go on holiday somewhere scenic ill definatley be doing sum yakking :awebig:

I was just thinkin about doin some kayaking soon. I haven't been out but once since the lakes thawed. Sad really.

I love rollin up some joints and floatin down the creek nice and slow.


Shit. Now I wanna go bad.

Thats awesome!

I was thinking about doing a strip kayak, but i wanted it to be nice and light. I also like the baidarka kayak qualities. Strength through flexibility.

Also, i think if you just rip your boards with a table saw somewhere where you have electricity, you could get away with doing pretty much the entire kayak without power..

I kayak just about every weekend. It is great exercise and alot of fun to swim,cliff jump, etc like u said. Here in Florida there are quite a few amazing crystal clear springs and rivers to kayak. I also have a spot to kayak out to my own personal island...Me and a few buddies kayak out to the island with tents beers,shrooms,weed every once in awhile with tents and spend the night out there tripping. It is such a WONDERFUL experience being on an island at night trippin under the stars with the sounds of waves crashing up...not alot of people know about it because you have to paddle threw these salt marshes which opens to open water then its about a mile out... Its not that big either just the right size of a few buddies to be crazy.

No, but I have very recently been dying to try it.  I live nearby a pretty good whitewater river here and I have been thinking about kayaking more and more every summer.  I live to downhill ski, so I think that this would get me my fix over the summer. 

How did you get into it?

you can have all that from strips, I'm sure you already know that
different woods have different properties, some are hard, some are shock
resistant some provide the light weight, with a layer or two of
fiberglass over something like white pine you've got the strength,
flexibility and moderate shock resistance... plus you dont have to worry
as much about the cost of buying any cedar or mahogany like I'm using

I used to work around a gigantic round grill cooking stir fry for all
the trash that came in from detroit. That shit was so hot in the summer
and I knew I would be sweating bullets in a few short minutes but I had
to shower before work. Kind of put me in a comfort zone of sorts.

I had to dig by hand what should have been done correctly by the trencher before 8 am.
I had to hand dig under a footing by 9.
The rest of my day was spent pulling wire with dish soap and gloves and ended up in an attic of sorts. Once again pulling wires.
Then I was sweating copper and wishing that I had gone to school to be a gottamn chiropractor or lawyer or dentist or a moderator.

The fact is that I couldn't know where the OP was and couldn't have met him even if I wanted. My post was a fantasy response.

So yeah, I needed a shower.

Had there been a pond or a river close enough, it would have been different.

if you were a mechanic or landscaper then would you really see a point
in showering prior to work?

Yeah I still would cause like I said it kind of makes me feel more
comfortable before work. But would you need to shower?? No sir.
